Except that they're not really the *same*.

Okay, just making sure. I would have to agree with your point in that case, really.

As far as the ports go, I usually prefer Genesis ports for one reason: the "uumph" of the music just gets to me. I love it. Yes, SNES ports are almost always prettier and have higher audio quality, but the Genesis ports just have this awesome unmatched charm.

Earthworm Jim 1 &2 on Genesis always!

Yeah the SNES can have much smoother graphics but the Genesis can do some very awesome stuff. The SNES also had better audio out of the box but in the right hands a Genesis soundtrack can be amazing.

Also, a different background can't really classify them as "different" either. That is kind of silly....
Same game, small differences, many times vastly different prices.

I'm not so worried about the graphical standpoint as just version differences like gameplay and such. Like Adventures of Batman and Robin for example, I used to have it for the Super Nintendo and I loved it. When I found out there was a Genesis version I was happy because I figured I could get it cheaper than the snes version but turns out it's not at all the same game :(

There are of course the ones that are not the same, Aladdin and Taz Mania are good examples of this.
(Get the Genesis versions especially with Taz Mania)

Agreed. There was always more bass on the Genesis games. Streets of Rage series!!!!!!

See, it's all good. I <3 my original SNES from 91 but I can come to appreciate the top-notch Gen titles.

Same goes for a few others like Aladdin.

The reason the Gen port is more expensive I'm sure is because I didn't KNOW there was a Genesis version of that title. Thought it was SNES-only
