it's honestly amazing to me how good this game is. I mean, it's a Sonic game. I always find them fun, but with tons of faults. This one is just... they really got it right this time.
They really did. The crazy thing is that almost everything in Generations is a reused gimmick from a previous game - but used in the proper context with moderation. Even the challenges were done in a way where they expand the content of the game but you only have to do a couple to proceed onward.

Really, the only thing Generations is lacking is...an announcement for Generations 2.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

ok, I'll go ahead and buy it...hopefully it really is the first non-sucky Sonic game since the 1990s.

Played some of it at a friends X-Mas party and the physics are a bit wonky still but overall it's not bad. I'll buy it later on down the line most likely. The PC port sucks anyways so I'd probably have trouble running it on my low spec PC.

They're certainly okay. It just doesn't feel quite like a classic Sonic game, which is a put off for me at least.

Yeah, it probably will be for me too. Oh well, $10 isn't too bad. Does it at least feel better than Sonic 4 Ep 1?

I dare you to find me a game that feels *worse* than it- outside of the Gameboy Color. Yes, he feels different from the Genesis games, but that's not a bad thing. In my opinion, he feels much better. Spin dashing goes faster than anything the Genesis could have handled, jump height is more predictable, enemies have a distinct DKC-ish bounciness to them when you jump through them, and the only part of the new physics that's inferior to the old ones is detailed platforming, which isn't really required outside of Sky Sanctuary.

This is not possible.

I agree. It's like an amazing Sonic mixtape. I so hope there's a SG2 in the near future.

Yes it is.

How is the jump height in the originals unpredictable? Also, I consider faster not necissarily better.

This isn't DKC. Also, detailed platforming combined with phases of ludicrous speed are what made the original games so great.

Now I'm most likely not going to buy it. If the only part that has detailed platforming is Sky Sanctuary. Then it's not a Sonic game.
