Awesome work, looks really sharp. And yes, that's exactly what I had in mind for a basic attack. The walk animation could use another frame or two to look a little smoother though. Keep me posted if you decide to do some more work on these, as I'll definitely be able to use them.

Do you know about how long the levels will take to complete? It doesn't have to be an exact time, if you're planning on having the songs go into infinite loops (like they usually do in such games). I just need to know ball park.

The first song that I wrote for this, I have all the riffs down, and I was gonna mix it up, but I just need to know if the loop will be too long or too short.

BTW, I'm not sure how you're gonna use this midi files, or how the program you're using handles them. Is it OK if I write the songs with a small intro that never repeats?

I'll upload the first song after I get it in decent order. Mind you, it's nothing great, but I don't think it's too bad. It definitely has an upbeat Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden feel to it. We can always scrap it. If I have the time, I'd like to write more songs than you need, and we'll pick out the better ones.

That being said, do you know how many tracks you'll need? I assume one for each level, plus music for menus, continue screens, password screens, and that type of stuff. Will there be any bosses? In that case, boss music too.

Also, I have a bunch of midi songs written that have either stalled or need some fine tuning. I could try and remix them so they'll work as game music and you can see if you'd like to use any of those as well.

Hmm... I plan on having the levels 3-5 minutes each probably, perhaps increasing the level length for the final few stages. The first song I wrote for the game is like a 70 second loop, so yeah I plan on doing loops.

I should be able to work something out for a song like that. I might have to make a separate file for the intro and the loop, but it should be no big deal.

So far, the plan is to do 5 levels, and yes there will be bosses. I'm thinking an original song for the final boss would be cool too. Menu music and game over/continue screen music too, so there's 9 tracks right there. I think the first level BGM should be a retro game themed version of this, and like I said I want to get a Forces midi in there somewhere.

More sprites :D

I'm thinking he needs one or two more to make the light jogging smoother, but as far as the walking goes I think it looks pretty smooth. Or at least it did when I put together a mini gif. Oh, what the hell...

I don't know how many sprites you need for the sword attack, but I've got a couple more planned if you need some more. I'm thinking the crossbow attack should only need 3/4 and I'll be able to reuse a couple of those for the cannon attack since he uses the same arm.

I realized yesterday that I'm going to have to give you another set of sprites, because he's got that damned metal arm and I can't just flip the sprites for when he turns to the left  Shouldn't take too long, but I'll worry about that once you've given the OK on all the sprites first.

Looking great dude, I'll really be able to work with this. The jog animation does look a little shaky, perhaps make his right arm move back and forth a little? I'm sure you'll be able to clean it up. Looks really good though Michi.

I'm not entirely sure how many sprites I need for the sword attack either, but the one you have will be used. The only other sword attack sprite I know I need is a jumping attack, but perhaps the overhead swing can just be used again. I was thinking a downwards thrust could be cool too though.

Yeah, the canon and the crossbow should be no big deal. Great work!

A smooth jog. Hurray!

Updates will probably be slow to non-existent the next couple of weeks because of the holidays, but I assure you, I'll still be working on it.
