Multimedia Fusion is a program that allows people that can't program to make games. It's very flexible and can be used to create a game of pretty much any genre. I aim to make a 16-bit styled game, but I'm not sure what type exactly. I just want to make something. I've used Corel's game development tools for 10 years or so, so I'm very familiar with the program. I've made quite a few games with it so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing and am just asking for help on a project that will go nowhere.
I have the ability to do pretty much everything on my own (the "programming", the gfx, and the music), but if I had help from someone that would make things go much smoother. Like someone else that knows how to use MMF, someone that can compose MIDIs, or someone that's good at drawing 16-bit art (this would be the biggest help), or just someone with some creative ideas. I haven't messed with MMF in a good year or so, so I'm a little rusty.
I'm thinking of either a run n gun, a Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden type side-scroller, or a shmup. One idea I have is to make a Berserk (the anime/manga) side-scroller. I think that'd be pretty cool, but I'm not set on anything just yet. So yeah, if you want to brainstorm with me or feel like helping out in a project, reply or PM me, or whatever. I want the game to be finished, so I'm not going to set the scope too high. Usually when I fail to finish a game, it's because I bite off more than I can chew, and I'm usually the only person on the project.
Anyone want to help me make a Multimedia Fusion game?

LOL. I suck at everything.brunoafh wrote:So... that's a no then.
Over the Summer I got this book that detailed how to make Flash games that were optomized for the PSP (so by default, also playable on PS3). I got as far as reading the book. Never did a single thing on my computer though.
I'm rooting for yr team, but not talented enough to help in any real way.

I can do midi, that's about it. I guess I could help with creative ideas, if you wanted.

PM'd. Not sure if I can or not, but I'm very interested nonetheless.

Well I think I'll use this as a random brainstorming thread. Everyone, throw your ideas at me. Here's what I'm thinking so far...
I'm getting pretty set on the idea of making a Berserk Castlevania style platformer. I know not everyone is familiar with Berserk, but this guy would be the main character. I'm thinking of adapting the Black Swordsman and Retribution arcs.
I'll be able to implement sub-weapons, as the main character has a few. Cannon, crossbow, throwing knives. Mainly he's just going to be using his sword to attack. I'm not sure if I should try to do some fancy stuff and give him a large moveset with the sword, or just go old school and give him just one attack? There's always the middle ground though, and I could just give him like 2 or 3 basic attacks or something.
Another thing I'm thinking of is whether or not I should try to make it a little open ended (Simon's Quest style) or just make it linear and level based (like CV 1 and 3). Making it linear and level based will be easier, and in the manga storyline the characters doesn't really backtrack ever, so making the game open ended might feel weird. If I make the game an open world then I'll probably also do things like stores and some kind of leveling/upgrade system. Which means more work.

Not wanting to do a Metroidvania style?
Re: Anyone want to help me make a Multimedia Fusion game?
I don't think Metroidvania style would work very well with the series, but a "light" Metroidvania style game (Simon's Quest) could work. I want it to feel retro though, so I'm leaning more towards just a linear level based game.o.pwuaioc wrote:Not wanting to do a Metroidvania style?

Simon's Quest sucked, make it linear like CV1 and 3. MAYBE do something like Rondo of Blood where certain levels have secret paths and whatnot.
BTW, if this is the style game you're doing, I'm definitely down for doing music. Do you have any tracks that you've partially written already?

Rondo style could work, good thought.Ziggy587 wrote:Simon's Quest sucked, make it linear like CV1 and 3. MAYBE do something like Rondo of Blood where certain levels have secret paths and whatnot.

I don't have any partially written tracks yet, the first thing I've been trying to work on is a sprite sheet of the playable character. The first track I'll work on will probably be a MIDI rendition of this, one of the main tracks from the show. I want the music to kind of follow the style of the music in the show, so stuff along the lines of this too, but, a bit more upbeat and video game like.
