Which camera view do you use for driving games?

Usually the zoomed out one, sometimes cockpit, and hood if the hood looks good.

I prefer third-person unless everyone I'm playing with agrees to go first-person.

The limited peripheral vision in first person or cockpit view is not too bothersome to me since I'm more focused on what's in front of me anyway and don't really care that much about what's on the sides (however this limited peripheral vision is hugely bothersome to me in a first person shooter).
I guess it depends on the type of racer. OutRun Coast 2 Coast, I would not play in first person view. I like to see my car drifting.

1st person view, always... some rally games i used to use a slighter zoomed out view to control the car a little better, the McRae series on the PSX and V-Rally 1 and 2 come to mind also...

I always go with some sort of cockpit/hood/first person view.
I can't stand the views behind/above the car--takes away the whole sensation of driving.

Typically I go bumper or cockpit if bumper is not available, but sometimes 3rd person high and back is needed - vehicular combat mostly.

Depends on the game, I don't think first person view is particularly fit for OutRun
