Oh no, I'd be keeping REmake and REzero for sure. Might replace my Gamecube copy of RE4 with the Wii port though.

guess it WOULD be a good idea to go ahead and replace my Gamecube versions then huh?
There's nothing wrong with the GC version of RE2 and 3, or CVX for that matter. If you're in search of the fastest speed runs, the GC version are the way to go. In RE2 you can skip anything, save for the door loading screens. Fastest runs are possible only on that system.

Also, I got a NEW copy of RE2 and RE3 for $20 each recently, just to have backups. They seem to have got another print run after RE4 and online stores are still stocked up with them.

And don't overlook the Nintendo 64 version...its randomizer and EX files are not in any other version and it's pretty cheap. No reason not to have if you own a N64

Pretty sure this applies to the gamecube port too.
I've heard a lot of weird stuff about the GC one. Some reviewers have said the visuals are fine, but I've also read that the pre-renders are off sometimes. Haven't played it myself, but, I'd say the DC version is the way to go all around.

since we're talking about RE, give a look to any of Vincent Merken's speed and knife guides. Dude is a European Physics professor and he's got to be the best RE or survival horror player on Earth.

Some of his guides include:

Finishing Silent Hill with Good+ Ending in 60 minutes :o
RE2 - Leon A in 1 hour 15 minutes
Resident Evil - Jill in 1 hour 17 minutes
RE3 - Jill Hard mode knife run,, knifing all Nemesis forms

I'm good at those games, but darn!

I thought I heard the GC ports were based off the DC/PC ports, but I don't know. I'd maybe like to collection RE2/RE3 someday on the GC, but the prices are always pretty high.

All in all, the DC/PC versions of RE2/RE3 look really sexy, but as I've said before I really don't mind that extra grittyness and dirtier look the PSX versions have to them, just gives it a lot of charm and all. PSX would be my preferred controller for those games as well.

Amazon is selling RE3 for GC new and sealed for $19.99. Not gonna beat that. And it's Amazon selling it, not a private seller so you know it's really sealed.

I'd also keep an eye on eBay though. I managed to pick up RE2, RE3, RE: Code Veronica, and Dino Crisis for DC for a grand total of $45.00 a couple of years ago.

Always wondered why dino crisis 2 didn't get a DC port. I know it wasn't "Greatest Hits" like dino crisis 1, but that would have been nice. Capcom for you.

Ah yeah, I always forget Dino Crisis was ported to the DC. Is it the same case as the RE games, with improved framerates/resolutions?

I'm still curious about Dino Crisis 3 ... hmmmmm. lol
