Well actually, I've never played any of the Resident Evil's before. But I've got it in my mind to give the series a shot so...
Could anyone tell me which of the games are the real 'must play' titles and which release is the best? Using Resident Evil 2 as an example...the thing has been on almost every platform except the SNES and my toaster oven.
Never played Resident Evil 2 before...

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Re: Never played Resident Evil 2 before...
in my opinion the two absolute musts are Resident Evil on the GameCube and RE4. Now the first game MUST be on GameCube becuz it is the perfected version. Seriously. It's amazing. And you need to play it to understand why the series even matters. The 4th game is just balls to the walls fun. It's totally different than the first. But play those 2 and you'll expereince the two sublime extremes of the series.
Also, it wouldn't be an NR post if I didn't plug Resident Evil Gaiden on GBC. A brilliant demake of the series. It's really cool. Actually HG101 put up an amazing blog post about it this week which really made me happy since they often shit on GB stuff.

Toaster oven?

Anyway, Resident Evil 4 is awesome. I have the Wii version, and it's pretty good. I've heard good things about RE2 as well.

I'm naming my son Bimmy BTW. Either that or Seven.
I tried playing RE2, couldn't stand the controls. That might be the only thing that might put off a person from liking the game.
