Again, you missed what he said. It's not in the information you present, it's how you present it. This is a reoccurring theme with you.Inazuma wrote:If spreading truth and having a desire to improve things puts me on a high horse, so be it. I will ride that horse like a mother fucker.

You, sir, go ad hominem when you attempt to make a point - which I won't bother explaining logic with someone who so clearly uses emotion and not rationality to make a point. I generally let your ignorance slide as in most cases, by the time I can reply you've already been corrected by the masses.Inazuma wrote:The correct phrase is "I couldn't care less."mjmjr25 wrote:I guess for some, certainly not for me. I guess to use the cliche', "I could care less."
Grammar aside, you reek of ignorance. Your petty complaints about the protesters are a fucking drop in the bucket, compared to major fucking bullshit that the banks pulled. Who gives a fuck about a bunch of loud and dirty people in tents blocking city buildings, when we have a government that is fully corrupt and exists only to serve the top 1%. Do some research about this whole occupy Wall Street movement, and get your fucking priorities straight, son.
Nothing a bank did affected ME. Misinformed, bored children with nothing to do and too much markers and cardboard who block my path in the course of my job, that affects me, that I care about.
My complaint is against the entitled masses, such as yourself who feel everyone and everything owes them something - every flaw they have and every mistake they make is someone elses fault, unable to take ownership of their own poor choices. Create your own destiny. Once again, "but, but, but the banks..." who cares - how did that affect you Inazuma?
Drop in the bucket? One should never guesstimate a situation from one locale to another, which you again rushed in to. My town has 5 police officers - we have had to hire outside help to cover OT for some misguided teens who figured they must've stumbled onto a cause. Paying OT plus a fee to the city they have to travel from, plus travel and lodging expenses which is more than quadrupling our yearly police and fire budget, yeah, drop in the bucket. You sir, are as usual, ignorant.
Re: Anyone switching to a credit union with what's going on?
With all due respect, I gave your post all the respect it was due. If you would stop making things up and putting them in the minds of your opponents, it might be possible to have a respectful discussion.
Here's an example "Many of these protestors don't really know what they want or what they are after except for wanting to bring down the whole system." I've been to almost every Occupy march here in Omaha and haven't met a single person who didn't have constructive suggestions for the country. These range from "tax the rich more" to "instant runoff voting" to "end the fed" to "public financing of elections". It's clear that you have absolutely no idea what's going on, and yeah I'm calling you on it. You don't like it, don't set up straw men.

Isn't discussing politics on a video game forum just a waste of time?
I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything like that. It just seems that this discussion has virtually zero impact on... well... everything.
Wouldn't it be more productive to talk about these issues with your local political representatives instead of Joe Blow from Wisconsin and Bob Internet from Rhode Island?

Re: Anyone switching to a credit union with what's going on?
Oh, I'm sorry. I had no idea that stuff cost your town many trillions of dollars. That's much worse than the federal government giving the banks 7 trillion dollars for causing a national depression, and then having the middle class pay for it. You said it doesn't affect you, so maybe you don't pay taxes, or you live alone in a cave or something, cut off from society. My bad.mjmjr25 wrote:You, sir, go ad hominem when you attempt to make a point - which I won't bother explaining logic with someone who so clearly uses emotion and not rationality to make a point. I make the calls to my political reps, send e-mails, and sign petitions too, but I'm only one voice. I talk about this stuff with friends and family, such as you guys, so that you are aware of the issue, and so you understand my thoughts on these matters in particular. I know everyone here doesn't agree with my viewpoint, but I want to at least put it out there. We may get frustrated with each other at times, but we learn from each other too. For example, I've learned things from arguing with Mr. Popo in this thread, and as much as I disagree with him in general on this topic, he has swayed my opinion on some of the smaller points of this debate, and provided challenges that have forced me to sharpen my arguments in others. Political discourse is important both on and off capitol hill.Opa Opa wrote:Isn't discussing politics on a video game forum just a waste of time?

Same. I write congressmen, sign petitions, donate to worthy causes, boycott corrupt companies, and talk about these things with family and friends, outside of this forum. Not only should topics like these be on video game forums, they should be everywhere. The more people who know about this, the better chance we have of fixing it.J T wrote:I make the calls to my political reps, send e-mails, and sign petitions too, but I'm only one voice. Not to mention that skills like that come in handy for non-political matters, like discussing opinions on games for instance.J T wrote:and provided challenges that have forced me to sharpen my arguments in others.
