It was nice witnessing Lego make a comeback after nearing the brink of collapse, but it seems it's become a craze that's filling up every other blog. When something becomes this mainstream it loses much of its creative/derivative/amusing value.

I don't' remember where I read this, but apparently the manufacturing process has gotten a lot more expensive as well.DinnerX wrote:I really like legos, but they cost entirely too much. I think they've driven the costs up with all the licensing, textured bricks, tons of colors, and other specialty stuff. All that doesn't make the legos more fun though.
The Castle sets! Remember the Robin Hood-esque forest bandits?BurningDoom wrote:I remember when there was just Legos, no Harry Potter, or Star Wars, or Batman Legos, just Legos. That's all we had as a kid. We had to figure out what to build on our own. I was never all that artistic, my creations were usually tall buildings, lol. There was a Castle set and a Pirate Ship set (nothing licensed, though), so we weren't completely on our own. But I never got those.
I'm a girl btwMrPopo wrote:The life lesson here is jobs will come and go, but Earthbound will always be there for you.
I'm always amused when I see the licensed Indiana Jones sets, because I remember Johnny Thunder.BurningDoom wrote:I remember when there was just Legos, no Harry Potter, or Star Wars, or Batman Legos, just Legos. That's all we had as a kid.
You mean Dark Forest?Opa Opa wrote:The Castle sets! Remember the Robin Hood-esque forest bandits?

It's 3' long and 3000 pieces. Then there's the Death Star II, which is also 3000 pieces, and the Millenium Falcon, which is 5000 pieces. I've got the Star Destroyer and the Falcon set up, still need to rebuild the Death Star II. And I need to ship my 2000 piece Corellian Corvette from my parents' house, since I forgot to have it be sent out here when I first moved.Opa Opa wrote:The Castle sets! I always wanted to make the Star Wars Star Destroyer. It was like 4 or 5 feet long and (quite literally) thousands of pieces.
