Because it doesn't feel like a 2D Sonic game should (e.g. Sonic 1-2-3). I also think the series peaked with Sonic 1, for what it's worth.

I prefer 2. And Sonic CD. I can't say I've spent much time with 3, or Sonic & Knuckles for that matter.

Where's the Flake? I'd like to hear what he was to say about 4.

But at least Sonic 2 feels like Sonic 1, even if the level design is slightly less inspired, the music not as good, etc. The problem with Sonic 4 is physics, which is the most important thing in a Sonic game.

Looks like the screen is really nice, but it only has two face buttons. There's L and R shoulder buttons, so I guess there IS four buttons to use.

I guess because of the nature of this product, it's really hard to find any technical info on it. I was trying to find out simple things and it's a no go. I found the PDF manual on the Leapfrog site and apparently it has a USB and cart slot. But the games look like they come on a CD, unless it's just a DVD size case with a really thin cart inside. I wasn't able to find any pictures.
You should head over to Best Buy, they usually have a display model out to play.

Sonic 4 has some seriously awful physics. Game manages to somehow feel both slippery and like you're wading through molasses at the same time.

The game is just ass all around. Just play Generations instead.

Sonic Arcade:

Like any arcade title, it looks crushingly difficult towards the end.
Admittedly I'm not a Sonic fan but man Sonic sounded annoying every time he got hit or nearly fell and how many times was the guy waiting on the game to realize he was at the edge of the screen and it should scroll in that direction? That looked like someone's half finished mod project that they never bothered to playtest and fix bugs and playability issues.
