I can almost see that from the trailers. I guess I should just go ahead and watch the film and derive my own opinion. I'm not expecting a vampire film from Jane Austin, but with all the talk and praise I would expect at least a half baked, interesting story. That and a buff shirtless man playing a saxophone near a California carnival. Wait. Wrong movie.

I'm not the best person to talk about this, what I know of it came from proof reading a friends essay at university. It was very well argued though. As for Mulvey, I doubt she'd agree, but only because I feel her views lean towards some rather extreme readings of the male gaze personally.
