final fight cd wrote:this isn't even contest. ninja gaiden, for me, is hands down harder than castlevania... ninja gaiden is just too cheap. and when i play it, luck seems to be the only factor that gets me from level to level.
The controls are stiffer, enemies get guaranteed damage (Jaquio between transformations), there is
freaking wind in areas that are just hard enough without it. (In fact, I remember during a required wind-assisted jump only to be blown down into a pit mid-way through.)
Ninja Gaiden (US) will cheese the player off on so many levels. Castlevania has Dracula at the end to do that, but you can cheese back (Holy Water). Belmont has a stiff jump, stair-climbing issues, but gets range and slow enemies. Ninja Gaiden throws crap at you at, well, ninja speeds and all you have is a slow stick. Annoying platforming elements aside, several boss battles broke me (at this point, I've never gotten to 3rd stage Jaquio).
I will add that, despite having blind jumps and spikes from out of nowhere, NG3 is insanely easy compared to NG1 (or even NG2) simply because you have the wide Super Sword at your disposal.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.
