I think it's just a reactionary thing. "Grr they hate things I like I'm gonna hate things THEY think are good! That'll show 'em!"

What's funny to me is that they slam it for not changing the formula yet I just finished OOT, Majoras Mask, and TP over again while waiting for this release and 5 hours into SS, I'm finding it to be quite different and fresh from the rest of the 3D Zeldas. I thought I wore myself out from this Zelda formula and am enjoying SS more than I have any other Zelda game.

Instead of a mass field or ocean, every inch of this game is taken up with useful space which you really see when getting into Faron Woods (which is beautiful!). This game is cramped and it's a good thing. It feels completely different to me.

Most of the puzzles aren't the same ol' familiar puzzles either. I don't think you need to run and light one torch in the entire game.

It's also a much more platformish game than ever before which I really like. The reviewer is on crack.

This is also why I don't read reviews.

Nice summary of the game right there. Thumbs up.

I definitely read reviews, but most of the ones I take seriously are written by folks here, at shmups, or at Cave-stg

He probably meant "professional" or "editorial" reviews.

My point is that the big-name corporate review sites can't be trusted. They're in the business to promote and sell big-name games, not to write objective reviews. Don't even get me started on the kick-backs these sites receive from developers.

This is all that really needs to be said about IGN's reviewing standards:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/111/1112284p1.html

If you want to read something unbiased, go to GameFAQs user reviews, Hardcore Gaming 101, etc. Hell, even Socks Make People Sexy is a better review website then the big-name places.

Looking for well-written and objective game reviews at IGN/Game Informer/Gamespot is about as silly as looking for death metal reviews at allmusic.

I think the problem is that these reviews aren't written for us.

I mean, if I went by reviews, I would never touch one of those ancient shoot em up things, as they obviously all suck and are dated... except Ikaruga

I think its just reviews in general. I got down voted out the ass on Joystiq cause I made a comment on how reviewers are bias toward popular games. I said Skyrim is loaded with bugs and sits at a 94 meta. Socom Confrontation is loaded with bugs and got trashed cause of the bugs and its at a 63 meta. All I got was "Skyrim is da best game evaaaaa!!!! Socom was garbage cause of all the bugs." Kids these days.

Yea. Skyrimjob certainly has issues. I would rate it a bit lower. But on the addiction factor it is most definitely top notch!
