It certainly didn't fail there just because it was american, that's for sure.
The original Xbox had the same issue.

I have trouble seeing the appeal of a console over a good PC right now, obviously financially the console works out better (or maybe not, Steam sales are great) but, the things are 6 years old now and it shows. The current gen is still selling fantastic though so I guess it'll be a while before we see anything new besides the WiiU (which hopefully ends up great.)

The 360 sure is the big guy here in America though. For every 2 PS3 advertisements I see there's at least 5 360 ones.

The appeal? A 4gb 360 costs $200 brand new. In this economy, that matters a lot to some people. The Xbox Live community has also become an easy way to play and talk to friends online.

I am a fan of single player FPS games and will usually (with some exceptions) play no more than a few hours of multiplayer, which the PSN gives me for free. If I was going to play a lot of online FPS (or other genres), I would probably pay for XBL Gold. I prefer the PS3 because I think it has:

better retail exclusives (including in the FPS genre)
better online store exclusives (though this is close, as XBLA has some sweet shmups)
free online which suits my needs
a better interface/menu system
a better controller

these are obviously all subjective, but since you asked...

and really, I play both quite a bit. if I were forced to choose, I'd pick a PS3. It is much better to have both, though.

The 360 is doing well in the states because of the huge population of dudebros and fratboys. It still won't outsell the Wii though, toddlers eat that shit up. There are toddlers everywhere.

What is a dudebro toddler to do?

PSP? So he can just play all the rehashed PS1/PS2 games he missed out on due to not being born yet?

I am quite amazed that 360 beats ps3 in USA, I guess its like Pepsi and Coca Cola each dominates certain part of the world, I believe both of them are same price and a ps3 comes with free Bluray player.

There are positive sides to each system really, but I kind of feel like XBLA no longer should be paid for.

What I dont understand, why does the 360 fail in Japan when most of the games are shared with the ps3. Does GT and MGS make all that difference?
