The funny thing is my friend's with the video issue doesn't RROD. The video just scrambles and craps out, then there's no picture until after another fix attempt. For both the ones I tried it was heat gun plus flux under the chip, then clean the flux residue after cooling. Then arctic silver and screws and washers instead of the crummy clamps.

New clean thermal compound will help pass the heat along to the heatsink, but some machines just have worse problems with the solder joints breaking than others. Replacing the clamp might close a few broken joints well enough to work in one but not in another.

Don't bother doing a X-clamp fix. All they do fuck up your console in the long run.
Get it professionally reflowed or reballed.

Find someone who reballs 360's that also does JTAG. Win/Win

Whatever is right.
I can JTAG the console and remove the X-clamps for you if you really want, but I don't have a proper reballing machine so I couldn't do that.

The problem here is having a compatible 360 that is capable of jtagging. There's no way to downgrade thanks to the e-fuses and basically you have to have 360 that is below kernel 2.0.7371.0 (Console Settings -> System Info). If you have, you can jtag, if not. You're fucked. Even then, you still might not have an exploitable CB version.

You can reset glitch newer 360s and you can pretty much use it to do the same stuff.

It seems I have everything I need to do the new glitch except the CPLD and the usb programmer. However it looks like the Xecuter Coolrunner + install kit looks like the easiest way of doing it. When I get paid I'll be getting one and trying it on my old launch fat 360.

It seems pretty straight forward, not many wires and it helps that I understand how the hack works on a fundamental level thanks to the analysis of the hack on the free60 site. If this goes well (can't see why not) I might start offering my services for our UK users.
