I love how Sega just trolled the entire Sonic fanbase - in the first two cutscenes they made the Jaleel White cartoon canon as well as Sonic and the Secret Rings. If that doesn't prove Sega has a sense of humor, I don't know what does.
But damn, this game is just so much better than anything that's come out for the franchise since the first Sonic Advance!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I must have missed that reference. What part? If you're referring to the chili dog thing, they already did that before.

They did? In which game? I must have missed it. I think it's funny that Sega puts stuff like that in. I hope they do it to deliberately tweak some of the nuttier members of the fanbase.

The opening cutscene in Sonic and the Black Knight had chili dogs.
As far as I know, until this game both of the "Story Book" games were not canon. So Generations effectively makes both those games (and by extension the morning cartoon show) canon all in one cutscene. Smooth.
...Sonic Underground still doesn't count, right? Right? Please?

As Inazuma mentioned, Black Knight had them. Also, in Sonic Unleashed, the really hard time trial missions were known as hot dog missions. If you completed them all, you got special chili dogs from each country that you could eat.
I also think its funny though. I hope they keep it up.
And let's hope Sonic Underground stays underground. Where it belongs.
