Why is that impolite? None of those examples are insults or anything like that. They aren't saying harmful things.
You really don't understand what makes something polite or impolite, do you?

The short version is that politeness is defined by cultural mores and varies between cultures and groups and contexts. There is no "why" beyond "just because".

This has been said a million times, I'm sure (not going to read over 10 pages of complaining and arguing) but this is ridiculous. Steve jobs over: Will Wright, Miyamoto, Carmack, Gunpei Yokoi, Ken Kutaragi, Tim Shaefer, Hideo Kojima, John Romero, Sid Meier, and about 150 other people?! Even just among the computer world, Bill Gates has been much more influential to games than Jobs ever was.

In other words, there is no reason. >_>

See, I can understand things like hitting people, insulting them, screaming in their ear, etc to be bad and impolite, but saying "Fuck, my toe." is totally fine. It's the exact same thing as saying "Ow, my toe."

Not really. One doesn't imply fornicating with your foot.

This topic is going all over the place now.

Quick question guys. Am I misremembering, or was there a point a year or two ago when Steve Jobs specifically called out Nintendo and Sony with the claim that IOS was going to conquer the handheld gaming market? I'm pretty sure that happened, or some similar sort of bluster.

Either way, I'm of the thought that the very fact that dedicated game companies see the Iphone (or companies like zynga) as legitimate competition in the world of video games (and nothing else, considering the capabilities of IOS) shows that they have had a very clear effect on the market.

Whether that effect is good or bad is what really should be up for debate.

I have to say, this whole discussion in general has reminded me of dsheinem's topic from this morning, with the video about Quake as if it were made today. Now that's obviously not the fault of apple or some such, but its a shining example of an entire genre being twisted into something completely different.

Those would imply actions that would be considered cannabalistic or fetishistic depending on interpretation. Either way you'd get strange looks from most people at the very least.
