Question for those who bought Dreamcast on 09/09/1999?
Re: Question for those who bought Dreamcast on 09/09/1999?
Yup! You want more proof. Look at the actual discs of those games packaged without sega on the spine. The discs used to have "Sega (swirl) Dreamcast". The later discs have "(swirl) Dreamcast". This applied to all dreamcast accessory package design.. Eventually Sega saw it fit to remove their name from Dreamcast, due to the negativity that many saw from the "Sega" name after their past Mistakes. I personally saw it as a very valient effort to such decision.

well yeah I think that's what we've figured out, was just hoping for some sort of hard evidence. But I think this is right yes.vlame wrote:of course they are going to be the 1st of each.noiseredux wrote:yeah I saw that but "demo gd-rom disc" and "web browser" is vague and doesn't answer my question as to which specific ones.

Cool bundle. When I first read this I thought it read the entire Sonic Adventure 2 game - which would have been awesome (and worth a ton today).abeaver wrote:I remember I got the Sonic package that came with Sonic Adventure, Sonic Shuffle, Sonic Adventure 2: The Trial, Planet Web 2.0, and a blue VMU. I think my mom even bought it at Sears (remember when they had game kiosks?)! Anyone know when that bundle was available? Oh man, that was the best birthday ever.

Aw fuck, I lost it there dude.Stark wrote:So it was the one seen in this link for the Web Browser: http://dreamcast.ign.com/objects/490/490126.htmlnoiseredux wrote:Show me on the doll where Sega hurt you Stark?
I seem to remember it being a sleeve, but I could be wrong about that. I'm about 90% sure that it is this: http://dreamcast.ign.com/objects/012/012979.html for the demo disc.
Bro, that was my first encounter with the Dreamcast. Sears had all the good things.abeaver wrote:I remember I got the Sonic package that came with Sonic Adventure, Sonic Shuffle, Sonic Adventure 2: The Trial, Planet Web 2.0, and a blue VMU. This what you are talking about?

Kinda like a Dreamcast arcade.

Dude, I passed on a kiosk for $160 when babbages was done with the dreamcast. It seemed like a lot of money for a crappy 13" tv and a $50 dreamcast.Anthony817 wrote:Aw fuck, I lost it there dude.Stark wrote:So it was the one seen in this link for the Web Browser: http://dreamcast.ign.com/objects/490/490126.htmlnoiseredux wrote:Show me on the doll where Sega hurt you Stark?

And it should also be noted that many of the web browser disks that came with launch units did NOT work. Many of the early pressings of games were foul too. I've got the replacement disk, along with an apology letter somewhere in my basement.

That's what i've been telling everyone, everytime someone says their perfectly mint GDrom game doesn't work on their DC.And it should also be noted that many of the web browser disks that came with launch units did NOT work. It was quite a letdown- as many stores were selling the 1st pressing games in advance of the console launch. So you're staring at a game in your hands for weeks, and it ends up not workingCD AGES wrote:That's what i've been telling everyone, everytime someone says their perfectly mint GDrom game doesn't work on their DC.And it should also be noted that many of the web browser disks that came with launch units did NOT work. I preordered my Dreamcast from Toys R Us and picked it up on 9/9/99. One thing I got which nobody else has mentioned was a Dreamcast T-shirt. It was simple and black with white "Sega Dreamcast" text and a small swirl. I don't remember how, but I know I had two of them for a while. Sadly, they both seem to have gotten lost.
It also came with the orange "Generator" disc and web browser others have mentioned. I bought Sonic Adventure at launch as well. Apparently I lucked out by getting working copies of everything.
