I disagree. I have not heard of anyone until now who actually thought that the term "shooter" refers to any game ever made in which a shot is fired. "Shooter" must simply mean "videogame" if you really want to be that broad.GigaPepsiMan wrote:I agree.mjmjr25 wrote:If you tell me you are interested in trading for shooters...I have no idea what you are interested in.
Do you like Contra? Quake? Subterrania? Trizeal? Halo? Sin and Punishment? Gunstar Heroes? Rainbow Cotton? Goldeneye? Baldre Force EXE?
SHMUP is simply a sub-category of a pretty vast genre. As are Run n' Gun, Hori's, Verts, Rail Shooters, FPS, Arena Shooters, etc. Its just one more way to clarify what it is. Pretty straightforward stuff.

I've never even heard of Hori's, verts or arena shooters. Who says that? If anyone said "horis" or "verts" to me I would think they had Downs Syndrome. Who comes up with this stuff? Of course hori could mean any game ever made that scrolls horizontally since we're being so broad here, right?

Now everyone's gonna start using that excuse. Hahahahahààà !!!Redifer wrote:You think I'm more "worked up" than I am. Like someone else said, it's the cold nature of web text. Try not to read so much into it.
Pass me the mayo?... *cough*Redifer wrote:Are horizontal and vertical really that labor-intensive to say/write?
