What's your username mean?

People tend to assume that in irc since I don't act like your total dumbass 16 year old most of the time. I grew up on the Atari XE so I think I beat most of you guys as far as retro gaming origins anyway. I got my Genesis when I was 6 so it's not that bad. I've always been atleast 1 generation behind everyone in gaming, I only buy consoles I can get for less than 50 euros generally. Being poor makes for a great way to become a retro gamer.doctorfugue wrote:lordofduct wrote:...dudex77 wrote:I think it was 1999 so I was 7 years old and my friends were using AIM so I decided to join them. Couldn't be bothered to think of a name so just went with dude which wasn't accepted since someone else had taken it. I added x, didn't work, so I added 77, accepted! 9 years later and I still use the same username for just about everything.
Holy crap, you just made like 80 of us feel really old when we really shouldn't. When I was 7 it was the 80's and the 16-bit era wasn't starting until the following year when I'd get my Sega Genesis on my 8th bday.
It's cool knowing that there are guys out there who weren't even around when retro systems were big, and yet they still love and play them!
I thought your name meant you were born in '77 like me...oh well, it doesn't matter...gamers are gamers no matter what.

My username is from the song "Mephisto and Kevin" by Primus from the south park album. I started using it when I was about 12 and being a retard, spelt it wrong. On the upside, I never have to add numbers to it unless I forget a password and have to set up a new account!

Mine is so old I think some of the story behind it slips my memory. Back in the old days when I started computer gaming which could have been with my 386 or earlier with my atari st my cousin had this cool nick I dont even recall so I need to come up with mine and rival his and since I have always been into metal music needed something that could be related to death and sound cool. Think the first time it was burn into my head was in an Anthrax song from the Among the living album called I am the law thats based on the comic book character Judge Dread and it said something about he being judge, jury and executioner. After that when BBS came I still used it, then internet, irc and so on. Some people called me exe for short and since it was a derivation of .exe which are executable files and in arcades you could only fit 3 letters on the high score I liked that alot. And its has never been a common nick so far for years and I'm so glad, there are some out there but have never bumped into them.
Consoles: NES, Famicom, SNES, GC, GB DMG, GB Pocket, GBC, GBA, DSI XL, N64, VBoy, NDS, 3DSXL, Wii, SMS, GEN+CD+32X, GG, SAT, DC, WS, WS Color, NGPC, XBOX, 360, PS1, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3, 3DO, CD-I, NGCD, Actionmax, TG16+CD, TE, PCE-DUO, Odyssey2, Playdia, 2600, Lynx & JAG.
Mine couldn't be simpler... just my name without any vowels.
My previous username that I used around everywhere, however, has a much better story, and it's even a gaming story.
I was playing Ridge Racer Type 4 on the PS1, and when it asked me for my name for some high score, the game already has "Namco" in there, and so I started to put in "Rich" but hit the wrong button after the R and the I, and so it said Rimco, and it kinda stuck for several years, even with people in the real world, and so since I was a. k. a. Rimco, that became my username, akarimco... thankfully I've grown up and realized what a stupid name it was
