I finished Doom, which was enjoyable as I remember. UGnG on the other hand... I've made it all the way to the last level but doubt I'll be willing to progress any further. Collecting the rings hidden throughout the levels just sounds grating, I only have half the number I'd need to progress. This is just so that I can even fight the last boss mind you, after that I'd have to go through the game all over again and get even more rings. I hate to quite a game after making a lot of progress, but this one is really not holding my interest.

I'm digging Penumbra. Some people say it's the better game I guess.

It does have a strong horror sci-fi vibe, one of the levels basically shows a letter that says "In the cafeteria they started giving us yellow milk, it tastes weird and it's making me feel sick. Many of my classmates are missing as well".
Eh, I wouldn't go that far. It's less horror than the FEAR games I'd say, which aren't scary at all to me, nor is Doom 3, Dead Space, and things like that. All that said, I thought Singularity was an awesome game.

I really enjoy the genre but I can't remember the last time I played a horror game. Oddly enough, I was a lot more interested in horror films and books when I was in elementary/middle school. :? You'd think it would be the opposite.

Anyways, the first action I took upon reading this topic was to see if any one has made a solid, 2D horror game in the last 15 years or so. Has any one ever heard of Yuuyami Doori Tankentai?

It was never translated and apparently it's somewhat rare, so I can't ever see myself playing it. It looks pretty awesome, at least graphically/atmosphere wise.

This guy did a pretty informative write up if any one is interested.

That was quite the experience. I still have no idea what happened. Lots of random imagery in that game.

I cleared DeathSmiles II a few times. Not only did I shoot zombies, i got to shoot a demonic version of Santa Claus called "Satan Claws" and evil snowmen. I can play this for Christmas games too!

I did not stick to my list very well. At least I beat RAGE. Demon's Souls is destroying me.

I suppose with the extremely loose definition of 'horror' that everyone's using, I can go ahead and count the new Mortal Kombat game right? Been loving that one.

They did make Freddy a DLC character.

I say it counts.

Likewise. I feel like you don't have to play just the horror-genre to be in the Halloween spirit. Anything related to death and or ghosts / monsters should be played! Freddy counts as a monster and MK is like street fighter in Halloween costumes.

Halloween ey. I played though castlevania I-IV last year over 4 days. Castlevania III was the hardest to over come and it took me an entire day to finish it. Castlevania II is a pretty long game even with a guide.

Not sure what I could play this halloween. Since last year I've played dead rising, resident evil 4, eternal darkness and other zombie games.
I'd probably be best off looking at the PS2 horror libary or playing Residen Evil on GC.

I could play the ghost's n goblins sereis but I can't see myself ever getting past super ghouls n ghosts.
