I think it comes with patience, which is something most kids don't have.
What the hell? I used to sit and play video games for hours. My parents actually complained to me about the Dragon Warrior music because I played it so much. I was around 13 years old at the time. What age "kids" only play games for 20 minutes at a time? If this is actually the situation these days, then I truly feel sorry for this generation.
I'm with you on this. When I was a kid, my parents had a rule for a while that on weekends I couldn't play video games after 12 noon (until after dinner I think). So I would wake up at like 5am and play games solidly until noon.
Count me in as another preteen who would play games for hours. Heck, my mom would stay up late with me to help me beat a two-player NES game rather than help with my homework or whatever. Then again, I usually did my homework the moment I got home -- so that I could play video games for hours. And hours.

Did anybody even see my reply:
I don't think you understand, it's not the sitting and playing games in general for hours that's the problem. They just can't sit and play one game for hours on end. Nothing holds their attention.
I was this way. I couldn't play any single game for more than an hour or so. Which in an RPG is usually the minimum required to actually get somewhere.

I used to be able to play games for hours on end but I can't do it anymore. I was never really into RPGs but the ones I did like I was able to play through. I have a hard time doing it these days. I usually quickly lose interest in games that require a lot of commitment.

It's something I wish I could change about myself because there's a lot of RPGs I'd love to get into but I guess the genre is just ultimately not for me.

I was able to get through Infinite Space on the DS though it took me a few months and I only didn't lose interest because I was really into the sci-fi theme and starship battle gameplay.

My girlfriend's daughter can definitely play games for hours. I swear she used to play pokemon for 12 hours a day when she was younger. Now she plays Toontown continuously. If there's one thing kids like, it's repetition, and there's lots of it in RPGs.
