You have to figure for some people there's a few advantages to downloading the game on to the PS3:
No discs to put in/swap/store = convenience
games readily available to play anytime on the HD (can't do this on a PS3 with PS2 discs) = convenience
I assume the games will have minor upscaling along the lines of what the BC PS3 has...
Virtual memory cards
Bluetooth controllers
potential for future Vita playability?
These are all things you get with a PSN PS2 game that you don't get by just popping a PS2 disc into your PS3. Sure, you can HDLoader on a PS2, buy wireless controllers, etc. - but there's a lot to be said for playing the games on the PS3.
Is all that worth the $7 difference? For me, that answer will sometimes be yes.
Depends on the individual. I can see where one likes all the games on the PS3 with the convenience of the hard drive. It is the reason why I love the Fat PS2 HDAdvance/HDLoader convenience and being able to use all my PS1 and PS2 Arcade Controllers, Flight Sticks, Driving Wheels and Joy Frag Trakball Mouse adapter. I also prefer a disc over a download so no worries about the negatives of DRM such as a possible loss of service years later.
Having PSN can be convenient, especially if they follow thru the multi console/hand held support. A choice of risk if there will be an absolute guarantee you can ALWAYS retain your archive.

PS2 games on PSN are just a horrible deal all around. Maybe if the physical version is super rare or expensive, you may be able to justify it. Other than that, it's a joke.
This is how I feel about this, as well as psone classics, virtual console, etc.
I'd pretty much only consider it if it was either a super-rare/expensive title. Hell I'd even spend a few bucks more than the DL price if it meant owning a physical copy.

The vote is now 12 for DISC and 7 for PSN
I also wonder who would want to trust their personal data as an online cloud storage. I can see as a backup protection but not as the only storage. This is akin to one that relies on just the hard drive for years and years worth of precious photos and documents. I wouldn't want my important documents available online to be hacked anyways. One just has to take the time to backup data to a CDR/DVDR once in a while.

That was one of my threads. Funnily enough the games that are said to be going to the PSN all work pretty well on the PS3. Well at least my gimped by design Euro 60GB PS3GEE THANKS SONY!!.
Grim Grimoire is an interesting choice as it's one that is fairly sort after on PS2 and as such the price is worth more for a hard copy. I'm glad that they are going for cult classics but it is a bullshit move to remove BC and then reinstate it albeit via PSN so you have to pay AGAIN to play games you already own.
I'm not sure that this is emulation but rather a method of recompiling the existing game source to the PS3 architecture. Same as the HD remakes, except that Sony are just getting the games running at native res and that's it just to make a quick buck. I'll stick to my hard copies thanks. Not that there's any chance of me ever giving money to Sony ever again.
This is obvious, but the poll in this thread is completely unfair. The main reason why these games should be considered is because the Vita will almost certainly be able to play them, as well. Also, where in the world you found a CIB copy of a Vanillaware game for $3? So, the better question would be, would you pay $10 for a game that you can play on your console and your handheld, or just one that you can play on your console?

Agree, the vote totals would be different if the dollar amounts are identical, but the survey shows some would rather pay more for a download of the very same game. Take into account the possibility of VITA support and if a download backup Archive would always be available, who knows?
Another point, Action Replay only works in the original PS2 disc version. Some do not like cheat devices, but it is an option for a game level that can't be beat.
Regardless of what we think, this is the way the industry is going. Grab hard copies if you want hard copies, you are not going to sway anyone's opinion who wants downloads. Downloads, being leases or not, are much easier to use and people are much more inclined to buy them for that reason. My Donkey Kong Jr on my 3ds never has to be cleaned or blown on to make work, unlike my copy of Donkey Kong Jr for my NES.
Personally, I can go either way. I bought Mariokart 64 on the Wii because we play it alot and I knew we would get my $10 out of it, even though I own two copies for the 64. Why? Because my Wii is always hooked up and it is much easier to transport and easier to get new controllers for.

I dont think it is regardless of what we think - I tend to think threads just like this are seen...and need to be seen by the Sony's / Nintendo's / Microsofts - so it is precisely "what we think" and this thread proves there is a significant part of the market that wants and will still pay for physical game copies.
I don't care to sway anyone's opinions on whether to download or not, but i'll vocally state my opinion, which is if the market went to download only, the money from my pocket to those companies would drastically diminish - they need to know that. I'm not saying I won't game, but my money will go to physical copy holders of older games. I'll buy a few online fighters, etc to play w/my friends online, but that's it.
