I don't mind doing a WRPG, and I've never played Ys I so I can't comment on how close it is to GAW, but Ys III is different enough that it shouldn't feel like too much of the same. Maybe we should take a vote on whether we should do Ys III, Baldur's Gate (Dark Throne, I'm assuming), or Dragon Warrior. Do people want a JRPG, WRPG, or ARPG? I'm actually 100% fine in doing any of the three I mentioned. What about the rest of yous?
I have no idea where we are on the discussion of a fighter, other than that there seems to be much more support for something 3D than any of the 2D suggestions. I have less clue on a puzzle game choice.
The RPG thing seems to be the big issue. We can either shelve it for after the rest are finalized, or finalize it, then come back to everything else all at once? Might be a bit more organized by only tackling one at a time.

Althoug personally I'd prefer to play Ys, I know there are people out there who are really strongly pushing for a WRPG, and thats fine by me. For what it's worth, I think it's fairly different from zelda and golden axe warrior, far more focused on building up stats to progress than that type of game.

In return, I'm going to push my 3D Fighter - Dead or Alive 2 is my choice, but Tekken, Bloody Roar, Soul Calibur, anything along that line is fine by me too. I'm also going to say that as we're playing a turn based strategy game this year, it'd be nice to play real time next year. After looking it up, ogre battle is real time (I honestly didn't know this), so for me it's between that and Command and Conquer. The former seems more popular, but the latter is certainly cheaper.

Whilst I'm interested in Sparkster, I could get behind Another World if you guys want to play it and try for an interview, even though I hate all of those type of games (Flashback, Prince of Persia, Another World, I've tried - and hated- them all!).

I want to play Golden Axe Warrior, but the SMS version is too pricey. That is why I want to play Ys 1. It is on SMS, TG 16 CD, DS, PC, VC, PS2 and PSP. For fighters I also would'nt mind playing DOA 2 and for puzzle I want to play puzzle league.

dude, I'm putting my reputation on the line here. I just don't see us being disappointed with that pick as a community. I mean, I stopped playing it BECAUSE it was so good I wanted all you guys to play it with me.
I'll put my vote behind this 8)

Will it work in a master system?

That's more like $265 + tax for those without PS3s. That being said, I'm more than happy emulating it.

Once retrosportsgamer.com launches (coming soon - get your tickets now!), I'm looking to implement something very similar to "together retro" a handful of times a year. NFL Blitz will definitely be a part of that, but it's hard with only half a month (considering all racing game are bundled together) to play together here.
I liked the Nfl gamedays for PS1 and been wanting to get NFL fever as of lately.
Your site sounds cool,I like Retro anything :D
I was really into NFL Gameday for '97/'98 ('98 was the peak for me) but I came back to Madden with the '99 iteration. Gameday really kicked Madden around though for those handful of years.

as far as the strategy debate: I'd pick Ogre Battle over C&C.
