As this year dwindles down, it's time to start discussing next year's Together Retro calendar. The little TR team has tried to assemble a rough outline to help start us off. We're thinking something like this:
Jan: Adventure
Feb: Fighter
Mar: RPG
Apr: Sports or Racing
May: FPS
Jun: Strategy
Jul: Runngun or beatemup
Aug: Party game
Sep: Platformer
Oct: Horror-related
Nov: Puzzle
Dec: Shmup
So we're looking for nominations on games to for each month. You don't have to actually nominate 12 games if you can't come up with anything for certain months. We're also open to thoughts on the placement of genres in each month, as well as completely different genres if the majority so feels inclined.
EDIT: For refrerence, here's a list of all past TR games

A couple of things to think about --
We try to not pick a game that was only on a single console. It helps if a game has been ported to multipe consoles (even in the form of remakes, or in the digital realm) so that more of us have the chance to join in.
And finally, this thread is meant as a nice open ground for us all to discuss what games we want to play together as a community. Instead of just tossing out lists of game titles, it really helps to discuss WHY you think a certain game is a good nomination. Help us all feel convinced that in the end we've picked an awesome line-up of games to be excited about.
Go!

Re: Together Retro 2012 Nominations Thread
one game I'd personally like to nominate is Golden Axe Warrior for the Adventure month. If you're not aware of it, Golden Ax Warrior originally came out on Sega Master System, and is basically the SMS answer to The Legend of Zelda. In fact, the game was heavily panned back then for being a Zelda rip-off. However much truth is there, it's still a fantastic and rather over looked title. Especially if you're a Zelda fan. It's recently been included as a very easy to unlock title in the Sonic Genesis Collection for 360 and PS3.

September: Another World/Out of This World
A classic cinematic platformer available on multiple platforms (PC, 3DO, SegaCD, Genesis, SNES, & many more!). Has a great atmosphere and notable for being created by one person.
It's also available on GBA as a freeware rom.

I like the idea of Another World. I think I suggested it last year actually. As Opa pointed out, it's on EVERYTHING including the GBA freeware ROM and a similar DC homebrew port on top of all the official releases out there.

Is there a master list somewhere of all the games that have been part of TR?

December: Fantasy Zone (Do I have to say why?)
Fantasy Zone is a defender-esque shooter. It's pretty much part of the origins of the "cute-em-up" sub-genre with its bright, pastel-colored backgrounds and cute enemy design.
It's available on many systems: Master System, Arcade, PC Engine/TG-16, et cetera.
It's also available for download on the Wii Virtual Console and part of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (PS3/360).
