Ys III as a compromise between Baldur's Gate and Dragon Quest?

That's actually a good suggestion. Plus it's on Genesis, TurboGrafx CD, SNES, PS2, and had a remake on PSP.

How many multiplatform WRPGs are there? Seems as though retro ones are few and far between.

I still prefer Ys 1 for a suggestion. its the start fo the series, and it's on SMS, TGCD, VC, PSP, DS, PC and a whole crapload of others, especially if you import.

Ballz 3D sounds good to me. A store near me has it right now for $5, I can pick it up anytime. It'd be a fun novelty, I think.
