I disagree with the premise that you can't buy a game on launch and expect it to work. In fact, most games that I have bought on launch have worked perfectly well, or at least the bugs weren't crippling. RAGE almost seems like it got no testing time on PCs...KillerJuan77 wrote:To be fair, with gaming in general you just can't buy a game on launch day, I usually wait 2-3 weeks until I buy it. Otherwise you are stuck with a broken game (Gothic 3, Cryostasis and Advent Rising are great examples of this).
But anyways, good luck with the refund, I tried to ask one for Cryostasis (A year ago the Steam version wasn't even patched and it ran even worse than usual) and they ignored me.
dsheinem's MONTH OF HORROR 2011! What games are you playing?

Which is awkward for id.

I've picked up Rage on 360, and for what its worth the only problem I've noticed so far is some textures sometimes taking a couple seconds extra to load when you're wandering around.
The issue is nowhere near as bad as it was for say, Mass Effect, but it is noticeable.
Other than that the game runs great and I've been enjoying it quite a bit so far.

Rage looks pretty good from what little footage I've seen. I'll definitely check it out once it goes down in price.

The thing is they are going to fix it, and well, the "not buy games on launch" thing works for me since the price can lower a little bit and developers have more time to fix bugs. Don't forget that deadlines have to be met and that it's not that easy to make an extremely well optimized PC game (Due to the extremely different hardware configurations) with such deadlines. Hell, look at what happened with KOTOR 2.dsheinem wrote:I disagree with the premise that you can't buy a game on launch and expect it to work. Wasn't Mass Effect touched up on the PC quite a bit? I was watching a friend play the first game a few months back on the 360 and damn, it was way, way worse than I remembered, like "I don't want to touch this again" bad, lol. I'm sure plenty of us built up tolerance for texture pop ups during the early stages of this gen, but yeah Mass Effect was one of the worst cases of it.CFFJR wrote:I've picked up Rage on 360, and for what its worth the only problem I've noticed so far is some textures sometimes taking a couple seconds extra to load when you're wandering around.

The 360 version of Mass Effect is horrendous, insane amounts of texture pop-in, major framerate issues and long loading times plagued it. The same thing happened with The Last Remnant.Xeogred wrote:Wasn't Mass Effect touched up on the PC quite a bit? And yes, they improved the PC version a lot.

I just looked back at the video dsheinem posted of the pc version of Rage, and all I can say is bleh...
I want to emphasize that while the 360 version has some texture issues as I mentioned, it is far, far (really far) superior to what I'm seeing in that video.
I've never seen it on anything more than some small objects in my immediate area. Certainly not the entire environment. That's just insane...

I endured Last Remnant as well, even beat it haha (random fan of the game, I know I'm in the minority with that one). But yeah I've seen videos showing off the PC version, it looks way better.KillerJuan77 wrote:The 360 version of Mass Effect is horrendous, insane amounts of texture pop-in, major framerate issues and long loading times plagued it. I own the PC version and I got the 360 version after beating the ultra hard PC version, it didn't last long on my collectionXeogred wrote:I endured Last Remnant as well, even beat it haha (random fan of the game, I know I'm in the minority with that one). I really liked it though so you're not the only fan of the game
