Quietly omit it? Lol, I think my anti-RPG leanings are showing.noiseredux wrote:I'm ok with it too. I don't often like doing two-game months, unless they sort of go together like the Gunstar/Guardian idea. BUT when it comes to October, I tend to feel like a double-billing fits the horror vibe. So yeah. Let's do that.
AND then let's figure out what we're doing about an RPG.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I like this idea... lol.o.pwuaioc wrote:Whether it's Baldur's Gate or a Dragon Warrior/Quest game, I'm definitely in favor of keeping the RPG instead of a pinball game. Maybe we can drop the sports game for the pinball one.
Re: Together Retro 2012 Nominations & Discussion Thread
Nah, everyone is too excited about THPS2 for that. I think the Crush Pinball / Maniac Mansion month is the better compromise. I'll leave the RPG talk to you guys - I am just too biased against the genre to be allowed any input.Xeogred wrote:I like this idea... lol.o.pwuaioc wrote:Whether it's Baldur's Gate or a Dragon Warrior/Quest game, I'm definitely in favor of keeping the RPG instead of a pinball game. AJ has this as his list of suggestions that have come up multiple times in the thread:
Baldurs Gate
a Dragon Quest
Skies of Arcadia
a SaGa game
Fallout
Bard's Tale
Elder Scrolls: Morrowind or Daggerfall
Grandia 2
Can we narrow down which specific Dragon Quest, Elder Scrolls, or SaGa game people are lobbying for so that we can make a more informed choice? If we have eight to choose from, it might make it a little bit easier? Is there anyone who voted for a game above that would like to change their vote to one of the other popular choices (e.g. "I supported Fallout but would rather play Skies of Arcadia")? We can do this!
Re: Together Retro 2012 Nominations & Discussion Thread
Well you can probably specify Morrowind for Elder Scrolls. That seemed to be the consensus among those who supported the idea.

As far as DQ goes I choose the first one. It's widely available and easy to get into. It's also probably the shortest one.

Re: Together Retro 2012 Nominations & Discussion Thread
Saga III was my favorite, but really the first 3 games are only in English on GB, so that seems kind of limiting.
I'd be happy with any of the first 3 Dragon Quests, all 3 are on NES and GBC in English.
I still like Skies of Arcadia, IF the people who think they would want to play an RPG are cool with the price-point.
I'm also pushing for Grandia II.
Somebody here soured me against Bard's Tale earlier in the thread.
WHICH consoles are Fallout and Baldur's Gate available on?

I'm all for Skies and Grandia 2.
Fallout 1 is only on PC.
Baldur's Gate is PC as well, but I believe they also released it for ps1.
I know zilch about the saga games...

Wait, so you are lobbying for four of these games?!noiseredux wrote:Saga III was my favorite, but really the first 3 games are only in English on GB, so that seems kind of limiting.

AFAIK Baldur's Gate and Fallout are PC-only, but there are several games in each series that appear on consoles.

Without trying to force my opinion, it seems like Golden Axe Warrior, THPS2, Maniac Mansion + Crush Pinball, Gunstar & Guardian Heroes and Bomberman seem like theyre basically (mostly) a consensus.
I'm not so fussed what we choose for RPGs myself. Im more interested in pinning down strategy, fighting, puzzle and shmup games. Still gunning for Yggdra Union or Command & Conquer/ DOA2/ Puzzle League (happy with Puyo Puyo though) for the first 3. Shmup is hard because Id like a bullet hell, but theyre so pricy!
