I still think one of the Ultima games would be cool. They're Western developed and have PC and console ports (at least for like III, IV, V)

BTW, I don't know much about the Star Wars racing game, but it does look kind of cool. I guess I'd +1 it as a possible racing game choice.

Well, if everyone's playing it again, I'll give it another shot.

If RPG month ends up being Ultima, please let it be Ultima III: Exodus.

Just some things I'd noticed when I've been keeping track of all this stuff.

Adventure: Golden Axe Warrior has undoubtedly seemed most popular option here. Beyond Oasis and Startropics have both been mentioned a fair bit too though!

Fighter: I don't think DOA2 is too 'new' to play for a 3D fighter. It came out in arcades in 1999 and on Dreamcast in 2000. It'll be 13 years old next year. That means I was 10 or 11 when it came out. Definitely not too new if you ask me . As noise pointed out, games like Riviera, Super Monkey Ball and Jet Set Radio all came later and we played those. There's no clear consensus here though.

RPG: Baldurs Gate has come up a few times, but it seems to be the same few people pushing it. I reckon people aren't very clued up about their WRPGS

Racing: Definitely seems more popular than sports. What to play seems more split though.

FPS: Wolf 3D isn't a clear winner, but considering the votes it has had and the reason to play it, it seems like its the best choice to me.

Strategy: Yggdra Union, Advance Wars and Ogre Battle all came up a lot. Command & Conquer has also had a few votes and is notable for being an RTS instead of another turn based game.

Beat 'em up & Run 'n' Gun: Guardian Heroes and Gunstar Heroes Double bill seems like far and away the most popular option.

Party: Bomberman seems to be most popular. I'm kinda sad that Party, Rhythm and Pinball games all got lumped together though, I think they'd all be fun to play and they're genres that haven't had any attention in Together Retro before now. Instead we're playing the same genres as always. If we ended up doing Rhythm, Space Channel 5 has it sewn up. For Pinball, the Crush series is most popular.

Platformer: Out of this World or Sparkster seem most popular.

Horror-related: Maniac Mansion seems very popular. Silent hill is probably next.

Puzzle: It seems to me to be between Puyo Puyo and Puzzle League, although Lemmings has had a fair few votes too.

Shmup: No clear choice here. R-Type & Ikaruga seem to be edging it slightly, but the votes seem spread about a fair bit.,

That's the stuff I've seemed to notice when I read through the posts for my updates at least. Anyone disagree?

If this is the consensus - I'd be ok with anything from the Ridge Racer series, or a month of F-Zero / Wave Race discussion. Or Virtua Racing on the 32x!!

I posted these in the World Series '95 thread but my leans for sports titles would be:

Baseball Stars - multiple platforms and re-releases, including Baseball Stars 2 on PSN for multi-player together retro!

NHL '94 - 20 year anniversary for EA's NHL Hockey series this year - don't see a lot of hockey chat or interest though. Hey, as a bonus we could do Midway's 2 on 2 Open Ice game from the mid 90s (NBA Jam on ice)

Virtua Tennis or Mario Tennis - I was told TR was anything n64 or earlier, which eliminates the VT series but Mario Tennis is fun and solid on the 64.

Virtua Racing would actually be a good title, but, it's a bit short on content. It's available on a lot of platforms though and is extremely fun anyway.
