I always thought it was a great racer on the PC (had very nice graphics too), but we did a SW game this year. If we go with a racer, I like Wipeout, Ridge Racer, or Sega Rally. I am not a fan of F-Zero on SNES/GBA, so I'd want to play the N64 or GCN version of those if we decided to go that route.o.pwuaioc wrote:Really? Fun? I never got really far, but I wasn't a fan. The drive was boring, the graphics sub-par even for an N64 racer (never played it on anything else, what did it come out for?).Opa Opa wrote:How about that Star Wars Ep. I: Racer?
That's kinda fun.
I guess I'd be willing to give it another shot if folks can seriously attest that it gets much better.

sevin0seven mentioned Wave Race too. I could be down with that as well.

Man its tough call,Fzero does seem like a easy go to and Wipeout is an intense racing experience.Ill second myself and go with Wipeout.

If we do F-Zero, I'd like to try GX (the cube version). I'm interested in seeing if its really as ball bustingly difficult as everyone says.
Though I guess not everybody would be into that kind of pain.

oh. Ok. Yeah. In my head there's only one Ueda that matters.CFFJR wrote: Hideo Ueda (from Axelay) directed the SNES version. Just to specify, since I wasn't sure if you were thinking of Team Ico Ueda.

I co-sign the Sega Rally vote. Wipeout and Ridge Racer I've already played, and would enjoy something different. Just me.dsheinem wrote: I always thought it was a great racer on the PC (had very nice graphics too), but we did a SW game this year. I got Episode 1 Racer once in an N64 bundle off Craigslist, I sold it pretty quick. I too thought it was easy and bland, although I didn't think the graphics were bad. I have an Expansion Pak though, don't know if you do. As for your question, I think it may have also been for PC, but not PS1. No idea about DC.o.pwuaioc wrote:Really? Fun? Don't worry, the early Wipeout games are ball bustinglytastic as well.CFFJR wrote:If we do F-Zero, I'd like to try GX (the cube version). I'm interested in seeing if its really as ball bustingly difficult as everyone says.

Re: Together Retro 2012 Nominations & Discussion Thread
I agree that Golden Axe and Maniac Mansion seem most popular, but I think we're seeing just as many Yggdra Union and Advance Wars votes as Ogre Battle. Double Treasure seems fine to me. I havent noticed a consensus on Baldurs Gate for a WRPG at all.dsheinem wrote:No game has universal agreement so far, but it seems that there's a lot of consensus as a first or second choice around these:
Golden Axe Warrior
Wolfenstein 3D
Maniac Mansion
Ogre Battle
and there's a few with a clear pair to choose between at this point
Gunstar Heroes vs Guardian Heroes (do both, i say!)
Sparkster vs Out of This World
Baldur's Gate vs. a JRPG
I am sure I missed some stuff...how's it look to everyone else so far?
I would prefer racer to sports too. I'm happy with most of the options, but I'm leaning towards Wave Race personally.

I have it on Dreamcast and I like it a lot more. The better joystick really helps and I think the game looks better, contrary to what some reviews have said. That being said, there are definitely other racers I'd rather play, like F-Zero XBoringSupreez wrote:I got Episode 1 Racer once in an N64 bundle off Craigslist, I sold it pretty quick.
