it took about 4 weeks from idea to completion. It worked on it whenever I had some spare time.ubelaffe wrote:definitely love the vmu slot. The whole thing is just sweet.
How long did it take to build?
I had originally planed to use and old 15 inch computer monitor but after I put so much time into I had to get something better. Also I didnt want any screws to been seen from the outside so I had to screw everything together from the inside which took some more time to do.
here are some more pics.

That was the same question I had myself when I started hacking the controller. I think it would be harder to figure this out if I was hacking a sega controller because its very different from the Interact controller I hacked. The L and R triggers have 3 wires. 1 is the ground (its in the middle of the three). When the trigger is pulled it makes contact with the first wire. As its pulled all the way down it contacts the third wire. At first I thought I could just elminate the top wire but I finnaly realised I had to hook up all 3 wires to the arcade button. An Arcade button has 2 posts (and a ground post). 1 is normally closed (NC) and the other is normally open(NO). So when those wires are hooked up, and the ground wire is hooked up to its post - then it all works.goaferboy wrote:Just a quick question. It may be retarded, I don't know much about electrics.
How do the L and R triggers work? How did you get them to work as buttons instead of analog triggers?
Very awesome cabinet though. I'm proper jealous!
If anyone decides to hack a dreamcast controller heed this warning. DONT CUT OFF THE JOYSTICK. I thought I wouldnt need it but if its cut off then everything else doesnt work. So I hacked 2 controllers cause I broke all the soldering spots on the first one.
Here are the specs on the monitor. 1680 x 1050 resolution,2-millisecond response,1400:1 contrast ratio,300 cd/m2 brightness.devilmyarse wrote:What is that monitor's native resolution? How have you got it so sharp at such a big panel? Doesn't the DC output VGA?
So its very bright and sharp. Its great for playing shmups. like Ikaruga. Every bullet is crystal clear and sharp. Yes, I use the VGA converter and its amazing how good it looks.
Some of the best looking games are, Ikaruga, Guilty Gear, Soul Caliber, and Rez. The Characters in Marvel VS. Capcom look awful but the backgrounds are amazing.
