I know, a lot of people do, and I love classic RE, but there's no way I can bring myself to call Resident Evil 4 a bad game by any means. If its 'just an action game', its one of the best action games of its generation.

Besides, RE4 has plenty of horror elements. Two parts that instantly spring to mind are the section where you're trapped in the two story cabin fending off that giant wave of... zombie things and the whole segment in the laboratory on the island.

Yes maybe it is a good game in action genre, but it is not a Resident Evil.

it's not bad. At all. It's just not as good as some of the others.

i got about 4 hours into it myself, then died horribly... i'll get back to it some day. but i think it definitely qualifies as a quality entry in the series.

Yes, RE0 is absolutely not bad at all. The partner system is 100x cooler than worthless Sheva in RE5. And it looks outsanding with such high quality backdrops, just like REmake on the GC.

Resident Evil Director's Cut on PSX
Resident Evil 2, any version except Game.Com
Resident Evil Code Veronica

those would be my essentials. hard to leave off 3, though. This is my favorite series. I would go as far to say Resident Evil 2 is the best survival horror title ever, IMO. The reason I say Director's Cut over Remake is simple: It's a better game, to me.

If graphics don't bother you and you can appreciate the voice acting, it's unbelievable how much fun that game is. There's so many variables in the original game that they took out of Remake. Why?! I have no idea, but they did. I won't spoil any of them, however. Also, the hunters are much better in the original and it doesn't throw in unnecessary sub plots about people's daughters roaming around.

I'm probably biased because I played the original back in 97 but I just didn't feel the Remake was up to par with it.
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.
