- Shenmue II, finishing disc 4
- Border Down
- Ikaruga
- Under Defeat
- Sonic
- Tokio busguide :P
- Bomberman
- Guilty Gear X
- Yu Suzuki classics

Still da bomb...

I hate to disagree because your site is awesome (and I'm a polite Canadian), but there are a few important differences...

There is a practice mode in the GC version which allows you to play sections of each level.

The GC version looks somewhat less sharp than the DC version (through VGA), and for some reason this problem gets worse after the first level.

The sound is better on the DC.

The slowdown (especially during boss explosions) is much less on the GC.

Being a direct NAOMI port on the DC, it is an arcade-perfect experience (including slowdown).

Sorry for the off-topic rant...

No problem -- I guess it depends on how detailed you want to be :)
If you want to be technical, no port is "identical"
I just don't view it as much of a difference as many other ports -- say Skies of Arcadia that recieved extra events and reduced random battles, etc.

Ahh...I am indeed obsessive about shooters...as any good shooter player should be!

Back on topic:

F355
VO:OT
Bangai-O
Shenmue
Ikaruga

Any game that you think has infinite replay value will be relevant. These 5 might not be unique to the DC (being in the arcade or having ports to other systems for some), but I think they are best-represented on the DC and I could easily play these games every day.

The fact that this thread is still going goes to show that the Dreamcast itself still matters, at least here. My list would have to include:

Bangai-o
Border Down
Castle Shikigami
Chaos Field
Giga Wing
Giga Wing 2
Gunbird 2
Ikaruga
Karous
Last Hope
Mars Matrix
Radilgy
Rez
Trigger Heart Exelica
Under Defeat
Zero Gunner 2
...
Jet Grind Radio
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Seaman
Shenmue
Shenmue II
Skies of Arcadia
Soul Calibur

...and there may be a few more, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Basically, the first list is most of the shoot 'em ups that have been released for the Dreamcast, the only real reason to buy new Dreamcast games today. Hell, DUX is still set to come out over nine years after the Dreamcast first launched in Japan. Games like Ikaruga and Rez have been released on XBLA recently, helping to keep them in the spotlight for a little longer.

My second list is made of all the non shoot 'em ups that have been released for the Dreamcast. The titles that are in bold have been released on other platforms, to mixed success, but it ensured their cult following. The non-bolded titles are classics as well, but every one has had sequels on another platform. Shenmue was stopped cold in it's tracks, Soul Calibur will be released on XBLA, Seaman had a PS2 sequel in Japan, and Jet Set Radio Future was a sequel/remake of sorts. Really aside from Soul Calibur, every other game kept it's niche following on the Dreamcast, for the most part.

Unfortunately, for most Dreamcast games to "matter," they need to have counterparts on other consoles. Most gamers have moved on. The niche group of gamers that still like arcade style shoot 'em ups and 2D fighters, have not.

That's what the ridiculously high prices on eBay tells me, anyways. Did anyone notice Border Down just sold for $152?!?

I noticed that when I preordered DUX today. It was about twenty euros plus shipping to the States, which translated into like $45. Ouch.
