I should probably go ahead and try to finally beat D2 as well. That game plays out almost like a spiritual experience for me, the moody atmosphere and surreal nature of the game can put me in a bit of a meditative state while leveling up, blasting away forest critters and monsters alike.

D2 is one of my absolute favorites on the Dreamcast, I'm amazed at just how well it blends third-person survival horror, RPG-like random encounters + level system, an FPS arcade-like shooter combat system and ties it all up with some of the weirdest cut-scenes to ever be in a video game. Brilliant - I say! Forget the haterz.

Don't play The Ring.

Don't.
Why? Because I'll die in 7 days or because it's horrendous? What's wrong about the game? :|

Because it's horrendous. The story is laughable, the graphics look like a PS1 game, there's graphical issues such as enemies floating six feet in the air, combat is handled poorly and is extremely limited, the plot makes little sense, most of the game you aren't told where you're supposed to go next, the movement of character models is extremely awkward, and the music will drive you insane because there are no tracks which last longer than a few beats.

And then there is the voice acting.

Look, having beaten the game, there were a couple of points that I liked about The Ring, but overall it's a truly terrible game. The best part is sadly the laughable sound effects on the main menu every time you power it on.

I'll opt in at the last minute. I'm away from most of my collection right now, so I'm going to try and play through a few portables: Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins and Gargoyle's Quest. That's probably all I'll have time for anyway due to my horror movie marathons.

Ok, this is going to be my final list, from October 20th to October 31st I'll play this games:

-Singularity - Actually this haves lots of monsters and jump scares) - PS3
-Harvester (Replay) - A very disturbing if not to say borderline offensive game about a guy that wakes up on a twisted, 50's style town called Harvest - PC
-Cursed Mountain - Buddhist themed horror game? HELL YEAH! - Wii
-Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth - I went halfway through the game on my 360 until I found a bug that caused the game to crash. I'll try to not trigger the bug this time. - Xbox
-Clive Barker's Jericho - What? I needed something disgusting for Halloween  - Xbox 360
-Clock Tower 2: The Struggle Within - I've heard it's fricking awful but I still want to play it - PS1

I'll also try to record the gameplay sessions with a commentary.

updated the thread title :)

I played the first three levels of Dementium for the DS yesterday as a bit of a head start, but died when these flying head things started cackling at me and attacking me with their Gene Simmons-esque tongues. Apparently I now have to do the whole level over :(

You want a hint on how to fight those?

I really don't know. I haven't played it in a while. Here's my hint. Highlight if you want to see it: (You'll eventually come across a puzzle that needs 3 keys. The puzzle is optional but I highly recommend solving it. It'll make life a lot easier.)

---

As for my horror gaming, I've been playing Silent Hill Shattered Memories on the PSP. It's a nice port considering the limitations of the PSP.

I'll probably be able to beat it today.
