Maybe I'm the only one who's had trouble with this game? I always remember doing well and getting far, and then being destroyed all at once by something like the Hammer Bros. I also frequently messed up the timing on my running jumps on levels with balancing platforms, and felt that I was screwed if I didn't have fire power for certain Bowsers. I knew where certain warp zones were, but... hmmm. I just have a distinct feeling of unfairness and frustration, but now that I think of it, I can't remember the last time I seriously attempted the game.

So I suppose we just proved my dislike of this game is irrational. :D
Nah, rethinking it, the Hammer Bros on level 8-4 (the one right before the final castle) always did give me great trouble. But then I played it so much I just got good. I suppose part of the reason is owning it for the GBC so I could replay problematic levels over and over again, hehe.
Y'mean 8-3 before you get into Bowser's level?

I sort of agree with that.
I just can't get into the 3D Legend of Zelda games; they do remind me of Zelda II, but I liked Zelda II's much more simplified aiming system than trying to figure out camera angles.
Zelda II was a platformer... what aiming system? what camera angles?
Exactly.
EXACTLY.

It's hard for me to find a 3D platformer I like.

Oops, yep, 8-3. Typo. If you lose your flower, it's a bit tricky to reget it in this level, but it's still possible to get past the Hammer Bros in Bowser's castle - all about timing.

Yeah~ The flower makes it easy, just don't lose it. I've made it past them being small Mario but it's f'n hard.

Super Mario Galaxy???????
No, no, Ye Sweet Gods above, BIIIIG NOOOO~!

I can't count how many times I jumped into an abyss in the first five minutes of the game. I would go on to play for another half-hour with similar success. I was much more attuned to Prince of Persia: Sands of Time due to how often your feet stay grounded (and most platforms were arranged in a simple grid) -- in the Mario platformer series, you tend to fly through the air with great frequency. When you also have to worry about angling the camera as you leap... that's just a bottomless pit waiting to happen.

Animal f*cking Crossing on the Gamecube!

Seriously, words cannot describe how much I hate this piece of sh*t game. I cannot stand it. From the cutesy, annoying as hell, personality-less characters, to the boring chore like day-by-day activities. There is no plot, no point, and I have never felt so unattached to characters in games, when clearly with the point of the game, I should be anything but unattached. I'm not a big shooter fan anymore, but I wish I could have purchased a shotgun from Tom's sh*tty ass store and mowed all those stupid mornic animals that always ask me to go find their lost items, or send them letters that I know full well they won't be able to read anyways, the f*ck down.

I also hate having to cycle through pages of tedious badly written text everytime I do something minor, like visiting that lost and found place.

I put up with the crappy game for a week or two, just until I got to a stage where I could get me some awesome NES games. It was too much after a while though and I haven't played the game since.
I hate it as well, the characters are so unlikeable and they never stop talking. Also, there's no true purpose in the game, why am I helping this twats? To pay for my house? In that case it's one of the stupidest objectives ever, not even The Sims asks you to do that!. The limited online functions on the DS and Wii version are also pretty dissapointing since it could have made the game... interesting.

Also, the game haves this character:

Now there's a level of skill I never had the patience to develop.

I also remember watching my older brother stare down those Hammer Bros. as small Mario for a few full minutes, terrified to make the attempt. And when he did, he lost. I guess it runs in my family.

Tch, man what's with all the hate on Animal Crossing? I thought it was pretty fun, if not amusing.

Although I can see how it's not for everyone.

The Last Horseman wrote:Mine's not neccesarily hatred, as much huge dissapointment causing dislike. I was overhyped for years on Ocarina of Time. I got it and..... it played pretty much like a slightly less fun, 3D A Link To The Past that had that stupid water dungeon. I was so dissapointed that it played just like a bunch of other action adventure games, and just didn't feel up to the par of 'Best Game Ever'. I've beat it once, and I'm trying to play it again... but its not that fun really. I don't know.
See, I'm not the only person who dislikes Ocarina Of Time.
dunpeal2064 wrote:Holy shit, someone else that was disappointed with Ocarina after playing Link to the Past. I felt the same. So much of Ocarina seemed like it was rehashed from LttP. Thats not to say I didn't enjoy it, as it was still a fun game, and the 3D combat was done very well. I just really enjoyed LttP before Ocarina came out, and when it did, it just didn't feel quite as unique as everyone else seemed to think it was.

I actually felt the same way about Mario 64. I really liked Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, and even Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island. With the huge differences in between each game, I expected Mario 64 to just be crazy as hell. And... it was, but just not in the way that I had grown to love.
You sir, are a person of impeccable taste and great judgement. Thank you for voicing your opinion, I now don't feel so alone in this world.
I feel the same. When both Zelda and Mario went 3D, I lost two of my all-time favorite franchises on major consoles.
