I saw a stack of them for $50 new at my local Best Buy this weekend. Unfortunately, I've heard some of the HD-DVD movies themselves are going up to insane prices now.

Only a few movies have really gone up in price. I think it's a worthy trade especially if you get the car washes free. I'm considering getting one of the HD-DVD player's at the $50 price point myself. There won't be any new movies in the format, but there's a decent selection out there.

It feels like a deal could be struck here. Aaron you can trade the free car washes for the hd-dvd player and flak you can trade aaron something for that he really wants, or pay him a fair price for the unit. It seems all too perfect.

the car washes were free for you... so that's atleast 50 bones for free!

That and I use my HD-DVD for the 360 player as my movie player, it's a really good picture quality I must say. Awesome sound from the 360. And it doesn't wear out your main DVD-Rom. Really it sounds like a sound choice to me. I know HD-DVD has really fallen out of the race, but hey that also means you'll be able to pick up the discs that are out there for pretty cheap soon! Just because it didn't win, doesn't mean its video quality sucks. Just means Sony produces more movies.

Yeah, what he said. I watch a lot of Blu-rays on my PS3 but HD-DVDs are pretty great and you can find some deals. And having a second drive for HD-DVDs and DVD upscaling is pretty nice. You can use it on a PC as well. Not to mention racketboy readers in 2020 will be amazed that you have one of these relics!

I'd say get one. Makes a nice collectors item if anything. I've been considering getting one myself even though I don't own an Xbox 360. As was mentioned it can also be used with a PC. For some odd reason now when I look alot of HD-DVD player seem to have gone up to insane prices. What are people doing with them?
