Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

THOSE BASTARDS!
This makes me want to...write a blog post! I'll show that stupid ESRB once and for all!!

Really, I'm still ambivalent about the whole thing. Kids probably should not be exposed to graphic violence, nudity, etc. ,but I don't see how you can possibly make a universal ratings scale. Every parent has a different idea of what their kid is allowed to watch/play. But why would any of us really care? The majority of us are over 18, so we can buy any damn game we want. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play my copy of Tokimeki Check-in.

If I see language get out of hand, I may clean things up myself, but everyone has been pretty good compared to most places.
Personally, I'm not much swearing -- I may let a few words slip on occasions that deserve them, but it's rare.

I think swear filtering is an awful idea, anyway. I don't know about you guys, but I had a really foul mouth when I was 14. Leave the censoring to the parents, even though a 14 year old is more than old enough to understand that curse words exist and that people use them (quite often) to express themselves in various ways.

It makes more sense to censor racial slurs.

If the ESRB had been around when I was a kid there would have been so many games that would have been rated M for the Amiga and even the C-64. Sierra eventually got to the point where they made their own ratings system for games like Phantasmagoria II with FMV titties and enough violence to make Troma squirm.

And profanity filters are stupid, especially the ones that change everything to *s. Nothing like seeing a sentence full of "**** you!" to make swear words more obtrusive than they could ever be unfiltered.
