For the PS2 ports of Code Veronica and DOA 2, they look softer in comparison with a the digital VGA signal and AA.
I agree with you, except that VGA actually uses an analog signal. Just the same, Dreamcast's video output is noticeably better than the PS2, even when using component cables on the PS2.

Actually, I was very disappointed find that some PS2 games look a lot worse over component cables compared to composite cables. "Yay! Now I can actually see all the ugly dots the hardware is using to dither the gradients of shading!" Damn but that gets hideous. Dreamcast games have always looked smooth but crisp to me.

Original_Name wrote:While the Xbox does of course have its similarities in terms of controller and online focus, the bottom line is that you can't call something a Dreamcast 2.0 unless its flagship franchises are IP's that are twice as crazy as Seaman, Samba de Amigo, Jet Set Radio, and The Typing of the Dead, and twice as hardcore as Shenmue, Phantasy Star Online, Rez, and Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram. Saying the Xbox 360 is the Dreamcast 2.0 is like saying Blink-182 was a continuation of Dag Nasty just because Travis Barker has a tattoo of one of their lyrics on his chest. There's a totally different (sell-out) heart beating underneath.
WOW! Mad respect bro! Much love! :mrgreen:

got NullDC working, but need to figure out how to get a USB controller working. I have a MadCatz wireless USB fight pad (PS3) and a PS3 SF4 arcade stick. Can I setup either of those to work with NullDC?

As far as I know, NullDC doesn't support game pads directly. However, you can just use your favorite game pad mapper program (XPadder, joy2key, etc) and that should get you up and running. At least that's what I did.

Yeah, I hear that man. Dreamcast was a step above, and had MANY PC like qualities. I just wish the 360 had Mouse and Keyboard compatibility, like the PS3 does, too bad it don't, or it would be the greatest console EVER! I think the PS3 and 360 are Dreamcast successors in many ways, BUT, they BOTH need to improve their functionality.

I thought you don't play games on the PC...

tried using Xpader, but NullDC won't detect it -- or even my keyboard for some reason?

NullDC just detects keyboard input, so it wouldn't be an issue with it not working with XPadder. However, if it isn't even detecting keyboard input, perhaps you changed the default controller settings?

Go to Options->Select Plugins

Now, under Port A, what does the first drop down say?

And while we are at it, go to Options->Maple->Port A->Config Keys for Player 1. Make sure you have keys mapped to control inputs.

That's how I feel about post-2002 DC games. Why doesn't anyone make 3D platformers, RPGs, or FPS game for DC? Why's it always got to be yet another bullet-hell shmup?
I've heard that those are supposed to be one of the easiest types of games to make.
People ARE making 3D dreamcast games, and they are pretty good looking.

Look for Tahi: The Arocean War. And CubicVR 3D Engine in the works for the Dreamcast, it is an amazing engine that will have retail game graphics.
