And that's why I'm still annoyed that they didn't give the role of Joker to Mark Hamill.AppleQueso wrote:Well that's because Batman TAS is the best adaptation of the character, period.

I'm not sure if Hamill could do a real physical role like that anymore.

Problem? I have no problem. I voiced an opinion in a thread about opinions about people who have opinions and you seemed to be unhappy about that opinion.AppleQueso wrote:

Okay, let's pretend for a second that if one were to become a billionaire vigilante, disguising your voice in such an extreme manner would be advisable.liked Bale's Batman voice! It makes it more realistic that way.
If I'm going to sit and watch a movie for 3 hours (and why the heck to they make these movies that long these days anyway?) and that movie's name is Batman, the guy playing Batman shouldn't use a Batman voice that is so grating and dumb that I am excited everytime Bruce Wayne is on the screen.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I like to just pretend Christian Bale's Batman has an electronic voice changer in his cowl and get on with my life. A voice changer that happens to make his voice sound like a garbage disposal. So what?

Your comment reminds me what throws me off the most about Spiderman movies: his extreme poverty.flamepanther wrote:Eh, that's actually a really poor example. Obviously outdated science can really throw people's suspension of disbelief off quite a bit. Spider-Man in particular tried to make the characters somewhat distantly plausible using the science of the time, as the public (poorly) understood it. Now that most people know a radioactive spider would have given Peter Parker thyroid cancer instead of superhuman abilities, a more plausible explanation was in order. I think it was handled quite well. Similar changes are made when the setting is changed from (for example) the 1960s to the 2000s--clothing, cars, technology, and patterns of speech are all going to change a bit. In Harry Potter's case though, your comparison falls flat in two places:BurningDoom wrote:Because we should all be glad that Hollywood Fs with the source material. We should just shut up and not have our voice heard and be happy that these characters that have been established for 40 years are gonna be completely altered. I'm sure say Harry Potter fans wouldn't care at all if Harry Potter took place in the "real" world and fought more "realistic" villains and explained all his powers through modern science. They would love it!
1: The books were written too recently to require these sort of changes.
2: Even if the books were older, we have not made any recent advances in magic.Science, current events, culture and technology have to be updated. Magic doesn't.
Maybe it was plausible in the '60s; not so much in the '00s. I mean, why does he keep selling his photos to the Daily Bugle? Look for other newspapers, dude! There's a gazillion websites that would die to have them first! Where's the internet in Spiderman, by the way?
His apartment is crap? Instead of begging his landlord to fix his door, he might as well hit a Wal-mart, buy a new one and send him the bill later. I mean, come on.
Peter Parker goes to college; it's not as if he was on food stamps (but he might as well, given his portrayal). He could at least try to make his life a little bit better instead of submitting to everything and everyone.

Well Bale does pull off a great Bruce Wayne, 'specially the whole playboy aspect.Flake wrote: If I'm going to sit and watch a movie for 3 hours (and why the heck to they make these movies that long these days anyway?) and that movie's name is Batman, the guy playing Batman shouldn't use a Batman voice that is so grating and dumb that I am excited everytime Bruce Wayne is on the screen.

Eh. I think it's still somewhat plausible, especially from a "we need to fudge this just a little to make the story work" perspective. People send pictures and video of important events to the news all the time these days for free. Maybe that's why there's so little demand for Peter's photos. Jameson is obsessed with the spider "menace" so of course he's the one guy willing to pay up--but not handsomely. Without working parents to cover the cost of school, college is going to eat up pretty much all of Peter's limited funds. Besides, the rent is too damn high! And with all of Peter's time being divided between going to school, doing freelance photography, being a superhero, and chasing cute girls that are out of his league, where is he going to find time to fix a door?jfrost wrote:Your comment reminds me what throws me off the most about Spiderman movies: his extreme poverty.

That's just my take on it, anyway.
