The worst fanbases
Re: The worst fanbases
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: The worst fanbases
Well this thread blew up, anyways...
Yeah, after that guy started playing (and was being an ass about not giving up the controller, we were going off wins but if someone kept winning for awhile we'd just pass the controller around for others to get in, he never did)... slowly one by one, people just started getting up and hanging out with other people at the party and left. lol, he definitely ruined the fun.wootcube wrote:Competitive gamers + friends just wanting to have fun = nobody having fundunpeal2064 wrote:@Xeogred: I hate that shit. Like, what are they trying to prove?
That bothers me as well, although not really a fan base issue :/
Re: The worst fanbases
I didn't realize that Sonic fan boys were so egregious, I guess I have never run into the seeder side of Sonic love.
I know the youtuber Pete Dorr gets a hard-on over Sonic, but he never delves into a furry-esq love for him (at least not publicly).

Wasn't that just him posting lots of pony stuff in the reaction image thread?BoringSupreez wrote:Yeah, he used to, but I let him know he was taking it overboard, and he toned it down. I don't have cable, so I don't watch television, and I don't really do much on the internet beyond here.
But didn't we have to ask you at one point to tone down all the pony stuff? I seem to remember you positing an awful lot about it at one point, and some members seemed to get annoyed.
Maybe I just don't hang out at enough communities, but I've rarely seen them become a problem. If a forum has a 24 hour thread on them, I notice they'll often keep their discussion in there.
Other than apparently being obnoxious, I haven't seen them do anything that'd actually make them the 'worst fanbase ever'.
All fanbases have their bad apples, and like I've been saying over and over again, EVERYTHING has a terrible fanbase if you dig deep enough.
Of course, admitting that wouldn't allow for this 14 page pissing contest now would it?

This. I admit that I have an Apple laptop. And I love my Apple laptop. But they are not gods gifts to computers. And you can only read so many glowing reviews of their products for so long before you become suspicious. They have their positive and negative points just like any other computer system. And while I'm thinking about it, the PC fanboys are just as bad. It doesn't come up often, but any time someone asks me what type of computer I use I always hate answering, because if I say Mac and they have a PC 99% of the time they roll their eyes and I get accused of being one of "those people" and get caught up in a lecture of why I should own a PC. Really, you can't win either wayavrame wrote:Apple fanboys (aka bias reviewers)
Can't stand reading reviews on Gizmodo or Engadget due to how bias they are towards everything Apple. They find any reason to rag on a CEO that isn't Steve Jobs, any reason to praise Apple products, and any reason to mark on a product review because it isn't Apple.
You can only read 'This isn't anywhere as good as Apple's X' in a review before you start to question their credibility.

This should help a bit too. Just an image so you can study it a bit more than that video (which is funny too).Anayo wrote:This topic presents a great opportunity for me to admit something: I have no idea what hipsters are.

Re: The worst fanbases
They aren't the absolute worst of fanbases, but Family Guy fans are particularly irritating to me. I Saw the very first episode after the Super Bowl back in 99, and will never forget the genuine enjoyment and laughter I experienced watching that first episode. Compared to The Simpsons at that point, Family Guy was a breath of comedic fresh air. All my friends who I showed the tapes too also loved it. So I watched every episode until the cancellation, and would still occasionally watch all of the episodes on VHS tapes (had/still have all of them). While I regretted the cancellation, I accepted it and moved on.
And then overzealous fans got it returned to the air. And while the old episodes were still as good as ever, the "newer generation" of episodes just feel contrived and not as good as the originals. And the sudden explosion of popularity for the show (where the *^$! was it during the original run???) and how too many people now say they're fans of the show when they wouldn't and didn't care about it when it was good. And don't even get me started on the rampant over-commercialization of the show ever since it was dragged back into primetime....
