Mine is very likely one of the early models made to be either a demo unit or to be rented out before the launch.

Does anyone else have a Dreamcast system this old?
Spring '99 is most likely the earliest you'll find for US Dreamcasts. If you count Japan, theirs can go back to summer '98, I believe.
Thanks. I'm guessing most of these really early production units are likely dead and gone by now.
My JP launch DC still works just fine. NOISY! but just fine.

Open up your Dreamcast, then open up the lens part. Get the lens and rail bar out. Clean the rail bar and put some silicone grease on it. Put everything back together again. Done...

I think that I have was from a rental store. I'm amazed it survived being a rental.
I've got 3 dreamcast, 2 from september 1999 and 1 from august 1999. Both are in perfect shape. Wisconsin is full of dreamcast made in 1999, I've been looking for one made in 2001 but it seems darn near impossible here. A couple from 2000 here and there, but most 1999.
Whatever wrote:Oldest Dreamcast I have seen is May 1999. I actually held onto it. I never seen one with that date. Seen allot of July and August 1999 models.
Theres this store down the street from me that has over 30 dreamcast units, I should go through them an pick up the september 1999 models. They want $30 a system with all cords and controller.

I would do that but that particular DC I have is in a box on another continent.
