Oldest Production Dreamcast Date?

Post by Mechblue »

Something I've been wondering for a while is what's the earliest production Sega Dreamcast? Most i've seen are August 1999. I came across one that was far earlier than this, I believe something like May 1999?

Does anyone else have a Dreamcast system this old?

Spring '99 is most likely the earliest you'll find for US Dreamcasts. If you count Japan, theirs can go back to summer '98, I believe.

Thanks. I'm guessing most of these really early production units are likely dead and gone by now.

Dreamcast came out in 1998 in Japan, they didn't show up in NA or Eu till 1999.

Haha hey bro, not much, been moderating dcisozone with an iron fist keeping the trolling to a minimum, but it can be hard lmao. :)

As of now, Geist Force is in the process of getting cracked, and we have many DC programmers taking a look at it.

It has protection like no other, and they have passed it over to the guy that cracked the Bleemcast retail boot discs back in December of 09.

If anybody can get it cracked for us, it would be him. Bleemcast took 9 years to crack lmao! But yeah, it is just stumping everybody, I would love to see it released by June, but not looking like it...

Australian ones don't seem to have a production date on them but I was always lead to believe that Sega stopped making them in 2001.

Interesting, guess there are a few others out there. Make me wonder why there was such a gap in production with the majority being the later batch..
