Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Marvel vs. Capcom 2, sure the Dreamcast version is better, but get the PS2 version mainly because of the rareity of that game (cost $80 used at GameStop)

Psychonauts
Silent Hill 3 & 4
Soul Calibur 2
Way of the Samurai 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Disgaea
GTA: San Andreas
Rez
Dynasty Warriors 5

For the most part, just about what everybody has been suggesting have been good titles. These are just a few of the ones I've enjoyed. Give them a shot!

ott0bot wrote:Tale of the Abyss is an awesome RPG. Really well developed world and story line. The battles are actually fun. You see the enemies like Chrono Cross, and then you actually have a real time beat 'em style 3d battle. You even have a 2 player option during battles and a friend can play one of your sub characters. The dialog can be really hilarious and there are tons of side quests, that are actually worth doing. I really got addicted to this one. I liked it better than all the Ps2 final fantasy games.

The battle system is kinda like Rogue Galaxy.....hey I'd recomend that one too. It's like a star wars type RPG in alot of ways. So mcuh to do it's overwhelming sometimes, but it's pretty fun. I haven't had time to finish it yet. If you like Dragon Quest VIII, it's from the same developers, Level 9. They also made Dark Cloud 2 which is also a pretty fun game. Alot of item synthesis on both of these titles but Dark Cloud 2 is more linear and has a city building aspect.

What about Viewtiful Joe?

Also I second the Red Star. One of the best 20 dollar games I've bought. And that's new!

You have all the games I want!!!
Gradius V, Katamari Damacy, and Metal Slug Collection.
I spent all my cash on Sega CD and Saturn games instead.....
My local Blockbuster actually had Tales of the Abyss on clearance for $9.99 new a while back, and I regret not picking it up. I also owned Rogue Galazy at one point, but lost interest about 10 hours in. Although, I've been itching to try at it again so maybe I'll pick it up cheap somewhere for a second go.

I'm liking some of these suggestions from you guys. Keep 'em coming! :D

He has most of these, did you read his list at the begining?

You know...I forgot to recommend Growlanser Generations. Two old school 32-era RPG/tactics games in one collection. Forget about the deluxe pack, just pick up the regular release. I got it at Game Stop for 24....ohh and make sure to get the manual.

PS2 Collections

He has 3 out of 15+ games I mentioned ott0bot maybe you didn't read his list? And Growlanser Generations isn't that good compared to 15+ other SRPGS available for the PS2 its only worth so much because they didn't make that many. That doesn't mean its good the game doesn’t have the same depth and humor of the Nippon Ichi titles. I don't want to sound like a jerk but its something I needed to point out.

Sorry didn't mean to sound like a dick...but yeah just three of them. Actaully, I liked Growlansers battle system much more than several other tactics games on ps2. Plus it's got more more of a 32 bit era feel, which i did. I love the Working Design releases.

Which SRPG's do you think are better?

I know about Disgaea, but I think that was already medntioned. I hated Suikoden tactics, worst dialog and plot in any game I've ever played. Too bad becasue the battle system was ok. I couldn't get into Phanton Brave, kinda felt it was so-so, maybe I'll give it another chance. I wanted to check out Stella Dues.

I'd have to question some of these recommendations. Rogue Galaxy? That game was atrocious.

And the GTA games? Yeah, maybe if he's into just blowing stuff up for 10 minutes before becoming bored.

Honestly, if you liked Dark Alliance at all, check out the sequel and maybe the Champions of Norrath titles. These games are fun if you have someone else to play them with, but by yourself they may not be nearly as fun. However, if you like customizing characters and just hacking your way through hordes of enemies--they're great.

Also consider:

Metal Gear Solid 3
Suikoden 5 (much better than 3)
Silent Hill 3
Resident Evil 4
