I know there are some funny levels in the Snes version. I've always wanted to play the piggy levels.
Thanks everyone...

I played Populous 2 but never the first one. I'll see if I can jump in this one.

Not sure yet if I want to play.

I've had a bit of experience with Populous on our old Tandy way the hell back in the day, but I never played it much. I was a kid and didn't have the patience for it.

Nowadays, its not really my style of game, so I'll probably have to force it to get anywhere.

We'll see. I'll probably play the Genesis version if anything.

So outside of dabbling with this one a bit, I've not really been playing it too much. The 989 levels thing is really daunting, especially considering that I'm not all that interested in the game to begin with. But how are the rest of you doing?

I still think we should all play Theme Park instead.

last night I popped in Populous: The Beginning (PS1) and watched the tutorial for 10-15 mins. After the time, I realized I had absolutely no clue what was happening. And I shut the game off. Maybe I'll try again when I feel more patient.

So is no-one playing this one? It seems sad to have a Together Retro with essentially zero participation.

yeah it really does seem this way. I don't know, I feel like nobody is motivated enough to even get into it. I can't remember any other TR month where there was a complete lack of participation like this.

Thought for next year -- I tend to find games like this a bit more conducive to Winter months. Anyone else think that could be part of it?

Or does Populous just suck? If it sucks, why is it kind of reveared historically?

Personally I just couldn't even follow what was happening even in the tutorial. So it really turned me off from diving in.
