Putting the disc in my PS3, once I started it up it took a very long time (30 seconds) just for it to show the Playstation 2 logo screen. After that, the screen goes dark and everything stops.

I gave it a couple of minutes just to be sure, and nothing.

So, PS3 verdict: never mind the eject issue, it doesn't even load.

Just to be sure my disc hadn't gone to crap on me, I popped it in my PS2 (which took a lot of futzing around behind the tv to hook it up, so, you know, be grateful. ) without the memory card. It did boot, but while it was loading I was prompted to insert the card ("hardware") and it can't be started without it.

So there you have it.
Weird that your PS2 Action Replay Max needed the memory card, but as you pointed out maybe a different version. The loadup lockup makes sense, every cheat disc I tried to install with HDAdvance/HDLoader did the same thing.

couldn't you copy the AR memory card to a PS3 Virtual memory card?

I thought about that, and its probably possible, but I don't have the means to try it myself. Plus, wouldn't that wipe the actual memory card? I've never done those transfers before.

The other thing is though that the disc completely froze up on my PS3, no response at all. In this case at least, even if we had the virtual card with the contents of the actual card, it wouldn't matter since the ps3 doesn't recognize the disc at all.

I don't THINK it wipes the card. Does it? I've never done it either.

At any rate, as you pointed out, kind of pointless if the disc freezes.
