That is the link I used. Yeah, I'd like to totally blank this HDD out and just practically start all over instead of trying to find out what is wrong with it and to know that I have a clean HDD with all the space, rather than guessing if EvoX will tell me the amount of space.

so what hard drive is in your xbox right now? do you have all of the original files and the original hard drive?

I made a back up of my C and E drive plus the EEPROM. However, while following that guide, I didn't have a D drive to copy those items from so I had no idea what to do.

Is it possible for you to put the 8gb drive back in it and prepare the 500gb with xbhdd on a pc with an IDE socket?

Yeah, I was thinking of going that route but couldn't find a good guide. I'm not sure if my original HDD was softmodded or not but would that matter?
Edit: I also have an IDE to USB adapter if that helps any.

Try to put the old hdd in and see. It is easy to remove it if needed.
How did you soft mod it? You should do it again with the 500 in. At the part where you copy the saves over, do backup, uninstall then reinstall.
