Re: PS3: What Are The Standout Games?
I have been rocking the PS3 in standard def for awhile. I had it hooked up to the HD TV in the living room, but TV wars are never fun. So I moved it into my classic gaming area and hooked it up to my 27" Phillips CRT. Honestly, I'm OK playing it in SD. I have only run into one game that had ratio problems (Wipeout HD). Most games will letterbox or switch to 4:3. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is an excellent example of this.

True but if you only have room for one TV in your gaming room (like me), then I'd stick with a CRT (with component, nothing less). I'm not at the point where I'm going to do the XRGB thing for my older consoles on an HDTV yet as the sole TV in the room.noiseredux wrote:I hate to agree. But yeah. I got an HD monitor for my PS3 about a week after I got my PS3. haha. It makes SUCH a difference.dsheinem wrote:Get an HDTV first.
Besides, PS3 still does look great via component but, of course not as good as an HD set.
Games I've enjoyed (not all exclusives though): Just Cause 2, MGS4, GTAIV, Flower, The Last Guy, Uncharted 2, GOW III, etc.
I've enjoyed Wii the most this gen but I'm still real happy I have a PS3 for those games (and a lot more upcoming that I'm excited for as the Wii doesn't have much more coming up...).

The Uncharted series is the first thing that pops into my head when I think of excellent PS3 exclusives.

Valkyria Chronicles if you have played and like more strategy based RPGs.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is fairly cheap now and is a great game in between cutscenes.

So far what's sticking out to me is:
-3D Dot Game Heroes
-Back to the Future
-DC Universe Online
-Demon's Soul
-God of War III
-Star Trek Online
...yeah, I think I'm gonna get a PS3 when I get the dough.

I have heard nothing but bad things about the BTTF game (even from fans of the movies like myself). I also have heard generally negative opinions of MMOs on the PS3...just surprised to see these on your list!BurningDoom wrote: -Back to the Future

Shadows of the Damned is great too, though it leans heavily towards action rather than horror much like Resident 4 and 5. It's on the 360, but I've read that the PS 3 version is slightly better in terms of graphics/performanceMrEco wrote:Dead SpaceBurningDoom wrote:horror games like RE, and space-ship shooters.
Though it's also on 360 so if you already have one of those then never mind.

Whoever told you the BTTF games were bad, just plain doesn't like BTTF or simply can't stand point-and-click games. I just played part of Episode 1 (which the entire episode is free to download, BTW).dsheinem wrote:I have heard nothing but bad things about the BTTF game (even from fans of the movies like myself). This was one of the coolest point-and-click games I've ever played! And as a fan of the movie, I was in heaven. This was the game that BTTF had always deserved. It perfectly captures the spirit of the movies. It's definetly a labor of love from the developers. The characters are spot on. The voices are spot on. The locations are spot on. Down to every last detail they got the feel and details of the movie PERFECTLY. And the production value, my god, they spared no expense. The sound effects, the soundtrack, the smooth graphics, and Michael J. Fox & Christopher Lloyd themselves!
But then I'm like a BTTF superfan or something. I've seen those movies like 50 times over and never get sick of them. So it definetly appealed to me a lot more than the average gamer.
