USPS lost my XBOX (suggestions needed)

Post by Nintendork666 »

I wasn't exactly sure where to post this, but the General Gaming section seems fitting enough.

I recently traded a member on here my spare NES for a working O.G. XBOX. There were a few issues, but eventually my XBOX was shipped out to me. The console was supposed to arrive at my door by July 12th, it is now July 23rd, and I have absolutely nothing.

I checked the tracking information, and it reached a sorting facility in Allen Park, MI on the 9th. This is the last of the info regarding the tracked package. I called up the Allen Park facility, and was made aware that they had sent it out to the sorting facility in Livonia (where I currently reside).

I drove up to the Livonia post office/sorting facility, gave them all the info I had, and the woman at the counter looked it up on her computer. She told me that they sent it out, but the package did not arrive yet. She told me they used Parcel Shipping (?) and that it was the cheapest, and slowest form of doing so. She told me it could take up to a week for them to receive the package that way.

It's been well over a week since the 9th, and I still have nothing. Personally, I think the employee I spoke with honestly had no clue what to tell me, and made something up on the spot just to get me out of her hair for the day.

In a nutshell: USPS lost my package while shipping between sorting facilities. They lost an O.G. XBOX.... can you believe it?

I know a lot of you do plenty of online trading/shopping/etc. and was wondering if anything similar has happened to any of you, and what you suggest I do about my current issue.

Thank you for reading all of this. :)

First off, I'm very sorry to hear that. The amount of things I've received and sent through USPS must be well in the hundreds, if not broke a thousand by now. I've never had one circumstance where something was lost or stolen or whatever.

One of my first transaction ever on eBay, the seller shipped out the item to me via USPS and it got past the point where it should have arrived. I forgot all about it and it came in the mail one day. Must have been at least 2 months. So maybe there's hope for it yet. If it seems like there's nothing else you can do, just cross your fingers and hope that it will come in.

I guess that really is all I can do now.

I just have a really hard time figuring out how they shipped it from New Jersey to Michigan in one day, yet I was told it would take a week to transfer from one city to another... and it still hasn't arrived.

This is the first problem I've ever had with USPS as well.

I wrote it down on a sticky note, the first time I went, and handed it to the woman at the desk. I plan on heading back out on Monday, and I'll request a print-out, like you said.

The thought that maybe it was never sent out has crossed my mind too. It was a HUGE hassle dealing with the member I traded with, but I won't drop any names - seeing as he had some plausible excuses, and this probably isn't his fault.

Did your XBOX have a tracking number? I'm assuming it never arrived. I'd like to know more.

I hate the USPS. There's been multiple times where stuff has been lost, or damaged. I complain, they don't give a crap, they basically throw up their hands and tell me oh well. There was even one time that the worker told me he was too busy to look for my lost package at their location, no joke. I REALLY hate them.

That sucks man. Best thing you can ever do is get tracking and insurance. WE lose it, you get covered safe to be said. Dont worry, if we still got it somewhere, we'll get it to you EVENTUALLY. I get packages in my tubs and more often letters that got routed to my office when it should've gone to a completely different city and sometimes state. Personally I've had few problems when dealing with personal mail. Once I had a letter size parcel get lost in the stream for two months before it finally made it to where it needed to go. Also if you EVER suspect someone is trying to defraud you using the USPS, you need to alert us immediately. Go to postalinspectors.uspis.gov or deliveringtrust.com. We're on your side, but believe me, there's plenty of dirtbags out there who aren't. Also did you call 1-800-ASK-USPS?

On a side note, I delivered a package a month ago and left it on there doorstep. I got a screaming lady phonecall because she hadn't received it even though it was scanned delivered. I know I left it there. A few days later some thieves were busted in the area. Hint: Stealing mail = federal crime.
