Post by noiseredux »

guys act quick! Irem is pulling all their games from PSN on August 11.

R-Type Tactics (PSP)
* Mousukesu based on Carton-kun (PSP)
* Bumpy Trott Beagle Battle Tournament (PSP)
* Ikuze! Gensan Yuyake Daikou Monogatari (PSP)
* R-Type Tactics II Operation Bitter Chocolate (PSP)
* Sengoku Esatsu Yugi Hototogisu Ran (PSP)
* Sengoku Esatsu Yugi Hototogisu Dairan (PSP)
* Narisokonai Eiyuutan: Story of the Sun and Moon (PSP)
* R-Types (Game Archives)
* R-Type Delta (Game Archives)
* Gussun Paradise (Game Archives)
* Irem Arcade Classics (Game Archives)

here's the post from HG101: http://blog.hardcoregaming101.net/2011/ ... tself.html

obviously most of that stuff is easily available in physical form, but there's quite a few imports up there that would be much cheaper on PSN. And what's Irem Arcade Classics?

Yes. Apparently it's difficult to get a physical copy of, but frankly I don't see much reason to try. :D

:x ... and I officially just lost all faith in digital downloads (at least ones that I can't easily back up myself).

Of those, I only have R-Type Delta on PSN, but I had hoped to get another PS3 at some point, strictly for online use and new releases. Would have liked to re-download the game at that point, but I guess that's not an option (I may just give up that notion and never have another online account for a console again).

I'm getting more and more jaded about how DLC is handled. And while I used to discourage piracy, I feel it's much more of a gray area nowadays. A game either has limited availability in physical form, or an uncertain future in digital.
Also, if I payed for a game once, I can't say I'd feel bad tracking down an iso for it later on. What incentive does a gamer (like me) have to buy a game if there's no long term security anyways?

This is all assuming that the downloads disappear even for the people would bought it. If R-Type Delta is still there for me later, I have a slightly better opinion (but still annoyed).
...just another lost soul...

I'm fairly certain you can still re-download a game you paid for even after it's been pulled? That was discussed in the Turtles in Time Reshelled thread.

This. ^

As long as you bought it before it was pulled, you will be able to re-download it at will. In fact, you could download it a couple of times a day just to stick it to the man if you wanted to ...

... remember when GOG pretended to shut down? When they came back on, I downloaded everything I own there. Three times. Yeah. That'll show them. I also never spent another dime there either. That'll probably show them more. :lol:

y'know what I really like? PSN games that are PS3 and PSP compatable. There's kind of this nice value in the fact that I buy one game but can download it to three consoles.
