My mom and I used to play a ton of Atari games, first on a 2600, then we upgraded to the 7800. We actually had quite a few games, but I remember Food Fight being one of our favorites, along with Choplifter, Kaboom!, and Joust. They eventually got me a Nintendo one year, and we played the hell out of that too. The games we mainly played together were Super Mario Bros. 1 & 3, and Bubble Bobble. Most of out time playing together was spent on BB, and we came pretty close to finding all the hidden levels and actually beating that game. My mom would actually play quite a bit on her own, and I remember Adventure Island being one of her favorites. In fact, she actually pre-ordered one of the Adventure Island sequels.

My dad never really played any games. He worked in construction, and had huge hands, so he wasn't able to use the controllers that well. He still enjoyed watching us play though.

They both did at one point and time or another. My mom teached me how to play games like Spyro when I was about 3, but he hasn't played since then. My dad played the Call of Duty series and probably some other FPS games on and off, but he hasn't played anything since.

My parents have never really been any more than casual gamers. Just recently my dad asked me to put together some NES games for my mom to play. I ended up sending her a Retro Duo so that she could play both NES and SNES games with a minimum of hassle and a few NES games. I had to make sure and include the Mario Bros. family and I have a copy of Tetris that I need to send. It makes me feel good that at 70 years old my mother still likes playing video games.
